Not anymore. If you call, there is no option to put a reservation on hold, not even even if you want to call later to redeem. Now you have to ticket it right away. I tried putting an itinerary on hold in April while on the phone, to think about it and call back later (I can never find the lowest level availability using delta.com for my destinations), but the agent said it is not possible, I have to book it or risk loosing it.

As of last week, I was able to call SMS and have them put an award tix SLC-ATL-SAP in BE on hold, so that my uncle, who was getting the tix for me, could just call or log onto his account and get it ticketed. The agent was very helpful in finding the correct flights (trying to get on the same ATL-SAP flight as some other folks starting their travel elsewhere) and there were no ticketing fees.

I just read in Inside Flyer magazine that delta.com will remove all award inventory from partner airlines. All that will be left is DL and NW flights! For those without the DL Amex this means that the $25 partner award fee will apply. And we all know that still, many awards with most partners were still unbookable at delta.com.

Is that the phone booking fee?

Are DL Amex holders exempt from the fee? They've always charged me over the years and I've always booked with my DL Amex.

The partner award fee and phone ticketing fee are quite separate animals.

Has nwa.com/jp been completely destroyed? I keep getting errors when I search for availability on partners like KQ, AF, OK, KL, etc...and very limited availability when I search domestic flights.

This used to be the saving grace for partner award availability...cant seem to get it to show results for anything any more!?!

Yeah, this is a known issue in the NW forum and extends to the US based site as well.

Wait a second, does anyone have any information on this? Those of us who use NWA.com a great deal, have noticed all AF flights disappearing in the last week or so from online.

I noticed this affecting KQ flights a couple of weeks ago http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=960975 and it's actually gotten worse since then. I can no longer find KL flights either. I stopped using it for AF some time ago when I noticed it wasn't accurate. EF works great for AF.

Are you sure they weren't simply referring to partner inventory being removed from the calendar?

Perhaps that is what they meant in Inside Flyer, but unfortunately delta.com does not show the same information that nwa.com/jp used to show....and we all know how buggy delta.com is anyway. This is a real shame!

For the past couple of weeks I've been trying to book an international award ticket on Delta in BE. The calendar function on Delta was nearly impossible to work with... at first, it seemed OK other than not showing a single "low" miles option on any day for all 6 months out that I searched. Does "low" even really exist?

Subsequent searched turned up calendar pages with no color at all: all the days were white. I had the same problem on numerous tries over several days. Not "Sold Out". Just white. Every day of the month.

Then yesterday it finally started to work... sort of. The flights I wanted had suddenly jumped to "high" on the calendar -- 370,000 miles per seat. I refused to believe this, logged out, and closed my browser. Went back in and the seat I wanted was back down to 230,000 miles (still would have liked the 120,000 mile level, which is in line most most every other airline).

The relevance here is that I also went over to NWA.com to see whether it would do any better. I was shocked to see that no Delta international flights would display at all, on any route. Plenty of NWA, plenty of CO, but no KLM, AF or DL. I tried Europe, Africa, Asia... nada. Specifically I wanted to compare what NWA.com would display about the flight I had just put on hold at Delta.com, but no amount of coaxing or cajoling would get it to display any Delta international flights. Kept getting the same error message in red type: "We're sorry, there was a problem processing this search request. (Message 106)"

Useless. Utterly useless. Delta award calendar cannot be trusted at all, and NWA doesn't even display most of the relevant SkyTeam options any more. Somehow, they managed to break both of them.
