flyLAL may join Skyteam

Hi all,

I have been heard FlyLAL will joined the skyteam associate member. Can you please figured out more specific information for me. Here it is:

flyLAL may join Skyteam

According to local report from Lithuania, flyLAL - Lithuanian Airlines is poised to be the next carrier to join Skyteam Alliance as associate member.
If you figured out more specific information about new airlines join the Skyteam associate member anytime soon. Thanks all. :)

Wow, another amazing potential addition to Skyteam. We keep getting the world's premier airlines, don't we?

When I saw the title, I was thinking "who the heck is FlyLAL"

I think with DL, CO, NW, AF/KLM the network for Skyteam is very VERY good TATL and to EU/US destinations. Another Asian carrier would be nice (other than CI/KE) or a South American carrier would round it out.

WHEN KQ joins, it'll be a huge intra-African addition that would make RTW trips MUCH easier.

First Uzbekistan and now Lithuania! SkyTeam may be getting all the ex-Soviet republics. Do Belarus, Moldova, Latvia, Armenia, and Tajikistan have airlines, too? Just think of all the SkyTeam FFers chomping at the bit to get to Minsk, Tashkent, Tallinn, Vilnius, Yerevan, Riga, etc. I'm surprised DL isn't already going to those places, what with their relentless international expansion and all.:D

The national/flag carrier of each country...
Belarus: Belavia http://belavia.by/

Latvia: airBaltic http://www.airbaltic.com/
Armenia: *Armavia http://www.armavia.aero
Tajikistan: Tajik Air http://www.tajik-air.com/

*Armenian Airlines was the state-owned national airline of Armenia that declared bankruptcy in 2003.

The above two are still showcasing Soviet era Tupelov aircraft on their web sites and the Belavia FA either is trying to hold on to her hat or has the worst haircut after Amy Winehouse :D

FlyLAL is no prize, but I wouldn'dt mind adding the network of Air Baltic.

I first read (interpreted?) it as FlyLOL.

(and it's commuter subsidiary, FlyROFLMAO)

As SAS owns just under 50% of Air Baltic, and uses Eurobonus as their FF program, I won't be holding my breath.

Fortunately, nobody has locked up any of the Albanian carriers that I am aware of. I think MIAT Mongolian Airlines is also available. Keeping my fingers crossed.

KQ is an Associate Member since 1 September 2007 (Press Release here). I don't think there are any plans for it to join as a fully fledged member any time soon. However, when it comes to the RTW products I believe all 3 Associate Airlines take part in them.

Folks laugh, but SkyTeam is building a formidable network into some real cash cow markets. Business travel into the former Soviet Union -- from both the West and the East -- is booming, and SkyTeam is building a fortress presence that oneworld and Star can't reasonably match.
