Skyteam Hole - Gulf to Asia?

I'm racking my brains trying to figure out how I can get from Kuwait to Bangkok using Skyteam or a Skyteam Partner, without significantly duobling-back on myself (i.e. KLM via Amsterdam). I want to up my points on my Flying Blue membership.

I can get to Dubai or even Muscat (also on KLM) but the journey seems to end there, if I want to continue eastwards.

Am I missing something?

Thanks ^

Not much to do there I think. KE flies to DXB. Otherwise I think you have to do a connection i Europe. Or you could just go westwards instead!:

(this one actually priced out at around €1500)

Perhaps you could get miles with MH? They fly to DXB.

I guess the best and most direct choice would be Jet Airways (9W) via Delhi. They are a FB Partner and have daily flights to both KWI and BKK. You would only earn award miles though and would have a long layover in Delhi both ways (overnight on return).

From DXB you could take MH via KUL and KQ via NBO. With MH I don't know, but with KQ you would also have a long layover both ways in NBO. Don't know if it is worth the hassle, but on KQ you would earn status miles!

Cheap option would be get to DXB on Jazeera and then take MH to BKK via KUL.. I would take that option over 9W... only because I think MH is better.

I love MH as well, but if it's level miles you're after, you may want to give ST's most recent member (China Southern) a try.

I'm pretty sure KQ flies DXB-CAN, and quite confident that CZ will have a BKK flight from there.

I checked china Southern's website.

Aside from the graphic of the aircraft experiencing wild turbulence, it seems their only international destinations are BKK, SIN, JKT, KUL, LAX, Paris (PAR?), and Seoul (SEL?), according to their drop-down list. Wikipedia however, seems to think they fly to many more destinations.

Mind you, the crew pictured on the left look happy enough.

Anyway, still useful info as it's a Skyteam option for me to go to Guangzhou when I need to pick up some bargains ^

I had no luck on Malaysia (or Expedia) websites trying to book any combination of dates and times DXB to BKK via KUL.

CZ flies 4x weekly nonstop from DXB to CAN (Tue/Thu/Sat/Sun):

DXB-CAN 2:00a-2:05p (CZ384)
CAN-DXB 8:00p-12:50a (CZ383)

from there you can connect to BKK:

CAN-BKK 3:40p-5:10p (CZ363)
BKK-CAN 11:20a-2:50p (CZ362)

CZ's website is bad. Go to a travel agent and book it there!

I'd probably take the KQ flight from DXB-CAN over the CZ flight. I don't know if you're planning to fly in Y or C, but CZ Y is terrible and the pics online make KQs C look pretty decent.

Emirates has the Arabian Pass from Kuwait to DXB for US$100. Make your trip from DXB to BKK.

A few weeks ago my parents flew KE from DXB to ICN. I don't remember how they got from BAH to DXB... You have to be careful with Emirates, I know on CO mileage can only be earned on certain flights.

CO mileage can be earned on any flight, but EQMs can only be earned on the LON-DXB codeshare.

And then only on some of the flights (2x one way and 1x the other). Basically you have to connect to one of the CO flights to/from LGW.

Since you've got CO listed in your profile I think that your options are pretty much limited to the CZ or KQ flights for EQM earning. Good luck!
