CZ is China Southern. OK is Czech. As you might imagine from this clarification CZ has a lot to do with Asia.

I was hoping BR would join ST.

I think in the big picture I'd prefer BR in ST than CI, but CI does have a great schedule to MNL that works nicely for me.

It will be interesting to see where BR ends up, or if they'll just stay independent. In OW they'll compete pretty closely with CX and in *A, SQ and TG already both have a presence ex-TPE to a few places.

I wonder if the efforts of China Southern and China Eastern to play nicely together will affect the way this plays out. Details on the "cooperation" are light right now, but it looks more like code-share than merger, so no SkyTeam bennies on CEA, but definitely shakes things up in the Chinese air travel market.

I am really not that excited by CI. Frankly, if I want to go to China (or Asia in general), I would much rather fly NW and connect in NRT. (or GUM on CO). CZ is only if I absolutely can't get there on NW/CO, and with all the nightmares I'm hearing about people with etickets being forced to buy new tickets because CZ can't pull up the tickets, and issues with first-last-middle names, I'm really wondering if ST is ready for another Chinese carrier. Why couldn't we get Emirates or someone like that to come over? What I wouldn't give...

Are you confusing CI with CZ and CA? CI doesn't fly to China at all.

Sorry, keep forgetting that China Airlines is Taiwan... gah. Definitely confusing China Airlines with Air China. Taiwan causes so many interesting naming issues
