Apparently not. The popup link on http://www.skyteam.com/EN/benefits/asiaPass/index.jsp indicates Economy only.

Has the KQ HKG-BKK flight been added to the Asia Pass eligible routes?

Skyteam Asia

Hey All,
I wanted to know if anyone had any experiences with the Skyteam Asia pass as of late. I was speaking to NW Elite and they seem to think that every destination (final) is considered 1 coupon. I read on here on someone elses post that they considered each flight as a coupon, but I believe if you make a booking such that if a connection is required, it wont be counted?

Anybody have any conrete experience in using these coupons to get around Asia. In particular it seems that mostly everything goes thru KE and Seoul.

We are planning a trip and was wondering if anyone can reply here or PM any tips. As I was reading the T&Cs it gets confusing. Just wanted an update if anyone has recently purchased the pass, their thoughts, and ease of use.

Happy to reply in the forum so we can share the information and others will be able to contribute.

Post your proposed itinerary here also the T's and C's that are causing confusion.

Unfortunately the Sky Team website does not have the same sophisticated booking tool that is available on Star Alliance and One World.

Their booking tools let you plan out the itinerary without actually booking, warn you if a sector or destination is not permitted and give you an estimated price.

Most of the complex terms and conditions are to do with changes and refunds. Each flight you have counts as a sector. If you have two connecting flights this will count as two sectors. You can have a maximm of 16 sectors. The booking tool will offer you the carriers available for the sector you wish and the flight you can chose.

Perhaps it will be worth looking at one of them as an alternate.

Over to you!

Help with Sample Itinerary

Hello,

From the research I've done so far, SkyTeam's asia air pass seems the most economical if I can find direct flights in asia between these countries. Can anyone give me suggestions based on the following itinerary?

My ideal itinerary: (6 weeks of travel)

JFK (USA) --> ICN (Incheon, Korea)

ICN --> HKT (Phuket, Thailand)

BKK (Bangkok, Thailand) --> RGN (Rangoon, Burma)

RGN --> KTM (Kathmandu, Nepal)? not sure which country in SE asia would be best to enter Nepal from. Perhaps flying from SE Asia to DEL (Delhi, India) and taking train/bus into nepal is best.

Final country (Nepal or India) --> JFK

Any idea where I can find a travel agent who is experienced with asia air passes? Planning is so overwhelming! I am very flexible and want to find good deals rather than adhere strictly to itineraries.

Thank you so much for any help!

I am bumping this thread. Has anyone used one of these lately? How do you figure out pricing and which flights are eligible?

We are looking for tickets from SIN to CGK and CAN to HKG. Both are very short flights, but the fares are rather high (vs. length). How much tax is there on these asia passes?

Anyones know a travel agent who is experienced in booking these?

also looking for definitive information on these tickts - I even went so far as to call DL and try to book one of these just to find out the details - but they had never heard of this ticket either :-)

Obviously I got a poor CSR - but it would be really useful to get definitive information. I found http://www.airtimetable.com/skyteamasia.pdf which does look like an 'official' document - but it seems to contain a 'flat-rate' pricing structure whereas the skyteam website now includes a different structure based on distance flown.

MANY thanks for this information which seems much more accurate.

I notice from the above that supposedly 11 Feb 2011 is the last date for sale under these conditions - is anyone aware whether that is a 'real' date or should we assume those dates will be extended?

I did do some research (but cannot access this myself - I presume something like what you have produced above will come out)

BTW - can I assume that the HE3A/600 USD reference you have posted above implies that this ticket is available for USD600 for 3 segments?

coupon per segment or per city-pair ?

When I asked the AF agent on the telephone this evening he said he thought each 'coupon' was god for a city-pair combination and that if we had to change flights or have connections that was fine - but I was less than 100% certain of the quality of his advice.

Is there any way to get a definitive answer either way on this - as it would make a serious difference to my plans I would like to try to find out how I can get a 'definitive' answer?

Thanks in advance anyone else who is able to help.

I have been trying to get this answer for what seems forever, and still can't get a definitive one.

Is it possible even that someone could give us a pointer as to where we might get a definitive answer to this question?

I have tried the AF/DL reservation office in my country with no success - the agent's answer was "I do not know"

Alternatively is there any travel agent which would be recommended by FT members whom I could call to book this ticket?

A single [e-]ticket coupon cannot possibly be valid for more than 1 flight (non-stop or direct).

Sky Team Asia Pass

As a long time Northwest, now Delta, Gold/Platinum elite, I have booked the Asia pass from the US on many occasions. The rules seems to be in flux, so always check with your airline of choice about the rules in play when you are about to book. Here is my understanding and experience. 1) Around the world tickets allow you one year to use coupons, but all other passes give you 60 days, starting from the day of departure from your point of origination. 2) Only the first coupon has to be fully booked in advance-- that is, with a confirmed date. 3) Patience is an absolute must! Northwest had one specialist working these passes, and I typically had to walk my gold elite agent through the details in long phone conversations. Three hours was not unusual, and often involved supervisory input. 4) My experiences with onward booking inside Asia wildly varied. The Korean Air staff in Hong Kong and Seoul did everything without batting an eye. The Northwest staff in Singapore insisted that I go out to the airport and deal directly with the station manager. You need to be aware that these passes were never well publicized, and were purchased so infrequently that many airline customer service agents simply were not aware of the product. I cannot emphasize too strongly that you need to know this product well if you are going to use it. 5) Under Northwest, the coupons were flat fee--$200/coupon (3-8 coupons) max, with additional options beyond the base for Oceania. Under Delta, Oceania has been dropped, and the fee is now mileage based. This will save you money on a short hop like Seoul-Shanghai, but it will cost you more on the long hauls going south from Narita or Incheon to points in SE Asia. In my experience, simple point to point tickets are often cheaper. I just booked Bangkok-Melbourne-Shanghai-Bangkok for US$1175 using Sky Team airlines exclusively. Neither version of the coupon system would have brought the fare in this cheap. Remember, if you are going to use this pass, arm yourself with information, and carry a hard copy of the rules with you throughout!
