Hi!

I have a question: is it legal to take YQ/YR fuel surcharges on bonus tickets. I guess at least according to laws in Scandinavia it is not? I am planning to take a bonus ticket on CSA OK Plus points for RIX-AMS-CDG-ICN/GMP-HND/NRT-CDG-AMS-RIX and they claim that the "taxes" I should pay are 326EUR, which is a lot!!! If I am not wrong then out of this ca 200 EUR should be AF fuel surcharge, which in my opinion should be not be taken in case of bonus tickets...

At least I know that when taking SAS bonus tickets ex. Finland, then YQ/YR are not added...

Can anyone comment this, how to force airline to take care of the YQ/YR, which should be part of bonus ticket miles part, not the taxes part...

Unfortunately not all programs waive the fuel surcharges like they should. I have no idea how to avoid these ridicilous "taxes". What you perhaps can do is pay for the ticket at your local CSA office and then bring it up with the consumer authorities in that country since you bought the product there. ?

Yes, they do not waive all, but I see that we should make a law regulating this issue. I see it also ridiculous... I wrote a complaint to Estonian Customer Board to see what they think of this issue. I hope to fight those ca 200EUR out of them, as I only agree to pay those 3rd party fees (government and airport taxes)
