Maldives on ST?

I'm quizzed! Looks like the whole SkyTeam alliance doesn't serve the quite popular Maldives (MLE). Can anyone confirm this, thanks!

I looks to me that you are correct and no ST airline serves the Maldives. I guess that they are not as popular as you thought.:)

not a skyteam member quite yet, but I think Kenya Airways serves Maldives from Nairobi

KLM flies to NBO, which would get you EQMs that far at least, and if you are a NW or KLM member I believe you should be able to get to Maldives for 25k miles in coach, which is a fantastic deal

I couldn't find a KQ flight between NBO and MLE, and in any case, wouldn't this be Africa to Indian subcontinent, not within Africa, for award purposes?

Hmm... good question - I don't know how that would be priced - you would probably need to check w/ KLM about that

I've been planing a trip to the Seychelles from Nairobi, and I can confirm that that is 25k miles from NBO, for what it's worth...

Before the best way was KLM to Colombo and then Maldive Airways to Male.
Since KLM gave up Colombo, you can't get real close on ST.

From Europe the Maldives are served very well by LTU from Germany and Martinair from Holland. It is a real package vacation market. Best deals are combination flight/accomodations. Better to use your miles for something else.

I guess, I'll do so… Fiji (NAN) came to my mind as a possible solution for an island holiday. There's a quite good connection from ZRH on KE (26h 10m  ). Anyway, thanks for confirming no ST flights to the Maldives.

Don't forget AF to Papeete, Tahiti. Surprising amount of business class award availability...

Any new way of getting to maldives oin sky team?

TrayflowInUK Apr 13, 2008 12:18 am

I don't see anything looking at the Skyteam Travel Timetable...

Malaysia Airlines has an A330 going from KUL to MLE... not ST, but will give you Award Miles on Flying Blue.

TrayflowInUK Apr 13, 2008 3:08 am

Good point... KUL-MLE MH0189 nonstop Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat, return MH0188 on same days, but stops at CMB on the way back. Good for WorldPerks (not EQM) and Flying Blue mileage earning and redemption (Iassume there are other partners as well?).

Interesting way to get there....

Is Malysian still charging surprise cash payments at the airport when flying them on award tickets?

Emirates flies to Male from Dubai. Depending on which Skyteam partner you have miles with, you can book a flight on Emirates. (Continental is one of the Skyteam partners that will allow this).

It looks like until recently Aeroflot served MLE from SVO and China Southern from Guangzhou. Are both of these flights discontinued? And does that mean there is still no Skyteam service to MLE?
