Presumably you already know that Aeroflot just joined in the near past, yes?

Airlines that have already announced PENDING ST membership include COPA, Kenya AW, Air Europa, MEA and Tarom as well as CZ. Malaysian is negotiating, and there have been reports that Royal Air Maroc is interested in associate ST membership.

Kenya's a good choice (I think NW's site already lists them among the carriers I can earn miles on) as they've got much better coverage in Africa than AF/KLM (and codeshare with them). The "missing link" would be someone with service from Africa to Asia; most airlines providing intercontinental service from Africa are just going to Europe at this point. Emirates is one notable exception.

EK would be good choice.
Since 3 carriers' members among SKYTEAM can collect miles with EK flights.
DL, CO and KE.

EK would be a DREAM for SkyTeam. They have so many destinations, especially in the Indian Subcontinent and they are still vastly growing.

From my experience of flying EK numerous times, they have a superior products. I hope they join.

I believe Malaysia Airlines flies from Cape Town and Johanesberg to Kuala Lumpur. MH is a wonderful airline, and KUL a fantastic airport. I think they will make quite an excellent addition to SkyTeam if, and when, they join up.

Well, as long as you connect through Kenya. Otherwise, I would not think so.

Given the current status of AF / EK relations, I don't see EK coming into SkyTeam anytime soon.

I am not 100% sure but...

KE has just started BKK/Nairobi code share service (3 times a week)
with KQ since April 20.
KQ231/KE5961 BKK/Nairobi & KQ230/KE5962 Nairobi/BKK.

This will allow Asian Skyteam members to have better access to Africa.
KQ also has relationship with NW.
Hope KQ joins Skyteam soon.
