Whither All the Reported New SkyTeam Members?

The press release announcing China Southern (CZ) entrance into Skyteam was August 2004. Aeroflot also sometime in 2004. In June 2005, it was announced that COPA, Kenya, Air Europa and Tarom would be admittted into ST.

What takes so long to finalize entry? In the business world, things shouldn't take almost 18 months, in the case of CZ, to finalize contracts. Even 6 months is an eternity in the business world.

Bilaterals, Bilaterals, Bilaterals....

Especially within the aviation industry, Government negotiations always take an eternity...

Do not know the individual cases of each carrier you mentioned, but Russia ( always ) wants way too much $$$ and the Chinese are not stupid when it comes to granting traffic rights...ask some US carriers desperately trying to get traffic rights to Shanghai

Kenya will very likely join the party relatively soon ( always kind of supervised and managed by KLM ) but on the other hand who needs Tarom ?
