Would this award work?
The DL award rules say there's 1 stopover allowed. What I want to do is a round-trip from NYC to IST but with a stopover in either EDI or GLA. My thinking was:
EWR-EDI-CDG-IST IST-CDG-JFK Is this valid? Any thoughts? |
Not sure about DL but some other airlines in ST (say, KLM) limit the free stopover to a list of gateway airport
for KLM this list goes something like BOS, JFK, LGA, EWR, IAH, DTW, ORD, MDW, SEA, SFO, LAX, MEX, ATL, MEM, MIA, HNL, KUL, BKK, NRT, HND, HKG, SIN, NBO, FRA, CDG, ORY, LHR, LGW, STN, AMS, BOM, DEL and MSP. DL might operate a similar system, and neither EDI or GLA may qualify as gateways, so tough luck. But then again, it never hurts to (call DL and) ask |
In case anyone cares I did just call DL and put this itinerary on hold as a single award reservation, except they routed me via PRG to get from EDI to IST. Not too bad at all!!

Congrats ^

I think everyone forgets how flexible the free tickets are as far as stopovers etc...I did a year ago in biz
atl-ord 6 hours for lunch with friends ord-CDG-LYS 23 hours to explore LYS LYS-BCN 4 days BCN-MAD (on DL metal...one of only two local pax--they gave me some hassle at the checkin and had to check with the ticketing office) 4 days MAD-ATL I was playing around with the DL timetable and was wondering if you could do a creative segment award run with some of the weird AF flights like AGP-DUB DUB-London et cetera Also don't forget to add the extra leg onto a flight which you're terminating in one of the hubs....an open jaw is permitted! Choose one of the Airtran cities (LAX, LAS, DEN) and get a second vacation for the cost of a one-way ticket! (ticket ATL/CVG-Europe-ATL/CVG STOPOVER ATL/CVG-DEN/LAX/SFO in the future) |
