Upgrades on partner airlines within Skyteam

Hello...

I'm new to the board and have tried searching for the answer to my question in previous posts as well as posting on the frequentflier.com forum, but haven't had any success. My apologies if this has already been covered!

What is the procedure for upgrading using miles on a partner airlines? My situation is that my husband and I are flying to Munich next week on Air France, and we'd like to use our Continental or Delta miles to upgrade to business class. Is this possible? I called Continental and Delta and they both flatly informed me that it was not, but I don't trust much that the airlines tell me.

Thank you for your help and advice!

Alexandra

Welcome to Flyertalk! Am not familiar with CO, but you can upgrade a DL codeshare ticket for travel on AF from the U.S. to CDG only. You must purchase a DL Y/B/M fare. The upgrade does not extend beyond CDG. For example, on an LAX-CDG-MUC trip with all segments operated by AF, if available you may be able to upgrade LAX-CDG but not CDG-MUC.

Thanks for the advice, FTraveler! Unfortunately, we actually paid for our tickets (they were too cheap to make using miles worthwhile), so I guess it's out of the question. I'm on hold with Air France right now. If I find out anything useful I'll post about it.
