Sorry, no dice. SQ and MH are not a part of the RTW Skyteam ticketing agreements. RTW ticket segments must be on the ST member airlines. MH and SQ in the RTW ticketing agreements would have made my life much easier several times.

That's disappointing, but good to know.

I know that CO BF isn't F, but if you are going to micronesia, and therefore spending a lot of time on CO metal, the idea of flying in BF is much more appealing than flying in Y. ANd the only way to do that is on the F ticket. I think it is s scam and a shame that they price it that way. But they make the rules -- we just fly by them

Could anyone maybe tell me to which continent dubai belongs does it belong to asia or is it combined with in europe/middle east?

Sorry if this was posted before....

I just booked my RTW tickets using my SkyMiles (220K) and 2 flights (to and from Anchorage) are on AS (Alaska Airlines)....is this actually allowed? I know AS is Delta Partner but it is not a part of SkyTeam (yet).

The Delta Rep in Thailand keeps confirming me that it is allowed but I just want to make sure.

Probably no dice.

I know that when I set my RTW up with NW, they had one connecting segments on AS. The agent said it was fine. However, when they went to the rate desk, they bounced it.

So unless you got lucky, I wouldn't count on taking that flight.

I just sent an email to the Delta Desk to find out and reconfirm.

Even on Delta website, Alaska Airline is intergrated into SkyTeam for Multi-Airline award redemption (all SkyTeam airlines are there PLUS Alaska Airline, no one else)...

The rep even told me that she just doubled check and Alaska is the only non-skyteam partner that is allowed when redeemping SkyMiles awards which includes RTW. Maybe for your case, NW does not have this agreement.

Well, will find out 100% confirmation shortly...will let you know.

Good to know. I know they shot it down on my NW ticket.

NW RTW Award

I've learned that NW has an economy RTW award available for 140,000 miles with a maximum of 6 stopovers (3 per continent) and that it needs to be booked over the WorldPerks phone line.

So I've looked at the SkyTeam cities a little bit and am thinking that it would be interesting to visit SYD, BKK, OSL, RIO and SCL. I'm guessing that something like this might be hard to actually get ticketed.

Do any of you have any experiences, suggestions or recent itineraries you would be willing to share to help me get started on planning this?

Thanks in advance!

Get ready to pull your hair out.

Well, I booked a RTW in Biz class, so mostly the same beast. I hope you have a lot of patience, and aren't prone to pulling your hair out.

When I booked, there were many dates not available yet, so a couple of weeks ago, I changed some of the later legs (and left some others out, since I knew I would change them again). Talk about a pain.

Going to Oz will probably be the first hurdle. Remember you fly E-W or W-E generally. I had a number of agents tell me that I couldn't go to Oz at all on this ticket.

First thing I would do is get a calendar and mark the days that you can travel. I'm spreading mine out over 9-11 months, and flying back from some destinations to actually work in the mean time.

I'd get the Skyteam schedule program. (Look on Skyteam.com for it). It helps greatly to know who flys where.

Remember all flights must be on Skyteam metal.

Remember that most agents don't know *anything* about doing these tickets. I have gotten so much wrong info from agents that it's ridiculous.

Remember it's okay to backtrack if it's for a connection. I had 4 different agent tell me that I couldn't fly LAX-ICN-SYD-ICN-BKK. However, this is the only way you can get to Sydney and then to Bangkok (Unless you want to go through NRT).

I, personally would research all the routes and dates for a week or two before you call them. I read through lots of posts here on FT, and then used the program and a calendar for almost two weeks before I finally attempted it.

Many agents will tell you that they can't ticket this, and you have to call the RTW desk. Not true.

You can often schedule less than 24 hours at a location without it being a stopover. I had an agent give me 25 hours in one location, and not count it as a stopoever. I was happy with it. However when I went back to change some segments (after that), they had a cow and said it was illegal. I was pretty amazed, since *they* had set it up, ticketed it, and charged me all the taxes months ago.

Here's my original flights LAX-ICN-SYD-ICN-BKK-CDG-CAI-AMS-CPH-AMS-MXP-EZE-ATL-SJO-ATL-LAX.

Good luck with NW miles redemption on your RTW and PLAN AHEAD. I have been having problems getting a flight back from HNL to BKK on NW as they have no flight available for the whole month of August 2006 from NRT-BKK. We are talking about 8 months in advance here...still no flight....business class - none....no need to mention Economy.

KE has a black out from July 20-Aug 20, 2006....applicable to DL miles, not sure about NW miles...

Other SkyTeam programs have similar offer (140K for Economy and 220K for Business). If I were you, I would definitely try to get 80K more miles for RTW Business Class....

Also, Australia is indeed eligble as part of the trip as long as there is NOT BACKTRACKING on your stopovers and it must be one continuous single direction (east all the way or west all the way) - of course transit don't count...only stopovers.

Yeah, I can really agree with this. I managed to get all Biz class segments on my trip, but it isn't easy in the least. If you're flexible, you'll do good if not, then it might not be so pretty.

Since I'm going W-E direction, I actually had to book out of LAX, and fly there on my dime. (Not sure if this is correct or not, but they wouldn't fly me PHX-MSP-LAX or such.). I can afford the $100 ticket, so no biggie, there.

I would go with CO, personally. I've flown FC/Biz class on most US carriers, and their product is quite nice.
