Qualifying fare classes for DL / AF
Hi there,
I'm intending to do a trans-Atlantic business trip in the next month or so with one of the SkyTeam airlines to build mileage in my Alitalia MilleMiglia account. With Alitalia, it seems I get credited for FF credit in basically any given fare class; does anyone know what the rules are for which fare classes with AF or DL qualify for mileage when using a SkyTeam partner FF account, or any idea where I can find a reference to this? The SkyTeam website is basically silent on the issue, and I don't know what the interactions between different partner airline rules, native programme rules and SkyTeam alliance rules might be. |
Which account do you want the miles to go to?
Which class of service do you plan to fly in (paid). With this info, it might be easier to help you assess which airline and fare class you plan to go with. Basically, most fares qualify for earning miles on any SkyTeam member. Base miles, the ones used to figure out status, varies from one to the other. So if you can provide the info stated above, we can work this out. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

Anybody? |
I can't see anything that won't let you get miles into your Alitalia account when flying a SkyTeam partner. You might want to inquire with Alitalia, as DL has some restrictions on earning miles. Some discount fsres don't allow for any mileage, some only a percentage, and others full credit.
wish I could help more, but couldn't find anything on the Alitalia website. |
Yeah, I already scoured the Alitalia website; heck, I even have the printed terms and conditions of the MilleMiglia programme right here and I'm still none the wiser :-)
I don't understand how different airline rules interact in cases like this ... for example, Alitalia claim they'll give you double miles for Delta flights in C/J/F, whereas if you're in Delta SkyMiles you get 1.5x! Also, Alitalia seem to credit me with full miles for travel on all sorts of weird and wonderful booking classes. |
Alitalia is a bit dis-organized. Each Skyteam airline has their own Frequent Flyer plan and there is little co-ordination between FF plans (some would say none). Thus the terms for AZ might be better (or worse) than for DL and there is nothing you can do (except pick which plan to credit the miles into for a specific flight). It sounds like you are well served with the AZ plan. Only AZ can answer your questions, and the terms for DL have no relevance.

NickW-how did things turn out for you? I have the same concern w/getting miles on my AF account using DL. I must agree that the sky team website has little value in helping in this area.
