AF Optimistic with earnings increases associated with DL alliance

Also contributing to Air France's positive performance is the carrier's alliance with partner Delta, offering passengers a veritable global network of connections. This alliance has led to a substantial increase in flights to the USA, with 28 additional flights between March, 1999 and March, 2000. Air France also opened two new US gateways with flights from Philadelphia and Cincinnati to Paris, and a codeshare route with Delta from JFK to Lyon, France.

With increasing passenger traffic departing from US domestic points to international destinations beyond Air France's expanding hub at Charles de Gaulle airport, Air France expects further growth. "For the year 2000/2001, the USA represents the largest percentage of our company's growth for long-haul routes, with a forecast of over 2 million passengers," said Christopher Korenke, Vice President and General Manager USA. "Capacity on USA routes has increased by 17% over the same period last year, and we look forward to a profitable summer season with a full schedule ahead."

Let Delta and Air France merge. These two loser airlines deserve each other.

Well, past "loser" or not, you can't expect to make much money by striking!
