IndiGo (6E) at Heathrow - competition for BA : )

I see Indigo have announced daily services from Heathrow from 26 October. As with their Manchester and Amsterdam flights, they will use a Norse 789 aircraft, so only premium economy and economy, not business. They haven't confirmed whether this will be to Mumbai or Delhi. They took a similar approach with AMS and MAN, before confirming Mumbai. I expect this will be Mumbai too. Indigo will be cheap and shoukd keep airfares low.

More Indian operated flights means more flights for UK carriers as it's essentially a reciprocal air agreement. Both Indigo and Air India have huge aircraft orders and I expect the UK-India market to balloon in coming years. Short of non-stop flights a lot of traffic is pushed via the Gulf or mainland Europe. At an event in Delhi earlier this year, BA said it was already their second largest market after the US. Flights typically go out full with business class often sold out in advance.

I'm curious to know where they're getting their LHR slots from. They just increased their cooperation with Skyteam and perhaps a Skyteam carrier at Heathrow has done a deal. Anyone know?

BA flights are premium heavy, with First offered on some Mumbai flights (just about to, if not already re-appear for the season...) - I am not sure it will do a lot in regard to those tickets. I'll fly Indigo or Air India domestically but Long Haul I would frankly rather not go; many I know feel the same.

I once flew domestically with them and vowed never again - let alone on a long haul flight.

It's probably VS, DL or AFKL - https://aviationa2z.com/index.php/20...team-alliance/

I see that unlike the other Indigo Norse wetleased flights, the Heathrow flight will originate in Delhi. I know flights often go out fill, so makes sense.

Seems like more of a tighter competition between IndiGo and Air India. Their focus will primarily be based on cheaper fares and therefore aiming for every single flight to be full.

Air India's service would then become a more premium alternative as opposed to IndiGo's objective of just getting as many pax as possible transported to and from India. There is an article out there from 100knots.com where they explain IndiGo's LHR slot acquisition.
