Sounds like a lounge that required an invitation and the check in staff failed to give you one.

Flying Y. There did not appear to be a contract lounge in Cairo. Check-in directed me to the Alfursan Lounge, and there was no question about an invitation. The response was SkyTeam Elite Plus was not valid for entry.

CAI Lounge
There was a problem with the airport authority which was resolved last month. Anyone with SkyTeam Elite Plus status is now allowed access.

Is the AlFursan lounge still there? The new Ahlein lounge looks almost like it replaced AlFursan?

Skyteam site also mentions Ahlein lounge for AF, and the Pearl lounge for AZ and ME. |
I remember seeing the Al Fursan lounge after clearing security, looking at purchasing an Air France Business Class ticket departing Cairo and wondering if I'd have access to Al Fursan, Ahlein, or both
(On Saudia's website, it looks like only Biz pax ON Saudia get access, but so do Skyteam Elite+ members. So, for an Air France ticket I'd need to be SkyTeam Elite+?) |
Does the Ahlein lounge have wine and beer?

As a Saudi-operated lounge, in a normally-dry country… almost certainly not

The SV lounge in CAI is very nice, but totally dry of course. I reviewed it recently (visited before an AF flight)
