Korean Air/AA DFW codeshare - accrue Delta miles?
Can anyone confirm whether it is possible to accrue Delta Skymiles on the code-shared Korean Air/American Airlines ICN-DFW flight, and if so, whether they count as Medallion Qualification Miles? I found articles saying that it's possible to accrue Korean Air SkyPass miles but they don't say anything about accruing miles with other SkyTeam partners.
The flight numbers are KE 5031/5032 and AA 280/281. Source: http://aviationblog.dallasnews.com/2...ir-lines.html/ And the thread here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...-icn-only.html Thanks! |
I think it is possible if you book it from the KE website with the KE flight number in an eligible booking class. If you book it with the AA flight number it will be impossible to earn miles.

The key question is who operates the flight : AA or KE? If AA, no SkyPesos even if booked under KE flight number. If KE, you will earn miles if booked under an eligible fare. Whether they will be qualifying, I'm not sure with all the changes done by DL those last 2 years and especially for KE. You can surely see this on DL website.

Thanks for the info! It's definitely an AA-operated flight.
Just found this page on Delta's own website, which suggests I'd probably get SkyMiles, but definitely not Medallion Qualification Miles. https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...orean-air.html Looks like I'll be taking Delta's ICN-DTW-DFW then. Just short of silver and this would put me over the top. |
Agreed that the flight must be KE operated. I was assuming it would be KE operated, but that's not specified.

Where you book a ticket doesn't matter at all. ;)

No miles as it's an AA flight. You can credit to only KE.

Not so sure. if it's a KE operated flight and you book it on the AA website I doubt any Skyteam program will give you miles.

I am taking this flight in paid Business class in a few weeks.
The ticket is already purchased as it meets my timing needs.and is for a KE marketed flight it looks like I cannot get SkyMiles as although I t’s a KE marketed flight it is operated by American. I am thinking I cannot get AA/BA miles either and this is just a trip with no accrual. Is this true ? i don’t want to open a KE account as I believe the miles cannot be transferred out from KE to anywhere else. i don’t need the MQM was just trying not to receive zero mileage accrual on a $3k ticket. Any wisdom |

NO DL credit of any sort because AA isn't a SkyTeam member. That's the rule for codeshares.

Good advice I refunded the Korean codeshare on AA and booked AA so I can credit to BA...15500 Avios. Thank you for assistance
