JFK to SJD Rewards Availability
 

Hi - I've been trying to book a rewards flight on Aeromexico from JFK to SJD, which is the only airline to fly that route directly, and is done only on Saturdays. Both Aeromexico and Delta told me these flights are not eligible for either rewards bookings or rewards upgrades (regardless of the date). Any other ideas to try? Thanks in advance!

The only other way I know is to pay for the tickets.

Aeromexico's Club Premier has an unrestricted inventory award category (Always Flight Award) if you're using AM flight kilometers.

Thanks 3c - How do I access this inventory? The phone reps all said this flight route is unavailable. I tried the "always flight award" section of their website, and had the same issue. Thanks

If you can confirm that there are sufficient seats available for sale on your travel date (ExpertFlyer, or a mock purchase on Orbitz), I would call Aeromexico again and ask for that award type specifically. It's been some time since I've talked to AM rewards people. Now they're asking U.S. residents to book all awards by phone.

If you're trying to spend DL miles and AM isn't making available Clasicos award inventory, you're out of luck. Try DL miles for DL-operated via ATL or Alaska via LAX.

Thanks 3C. It took a lot of insistence and talking to a supervisor, but eventually the rep acknowledged this award type. Unfortunately, at 90k coach and 190k business, I'm not a buyer, but at least I had the option. They also mentioned they're not able to hold the reservation for this award type. Thx
