Lounge double-dip in SVO: Help please!
 

Hello there,

I'm flying Aeroflot Economy Class to Tokyo via Moscow in September. I'll be traveling with two friends, one of them is Skyteam Elite Plus (Flying Blue Gold). Sadly though he's only able to bring one guest into the lounge.

However I have been thinking lately. There are two SU Lounges in SVO Terminal D. Would it be possible for my friend to guest me into the Blues lounge, leave and access the Jazz lounge with the other friend? Would there be any way for them to tell?

Wouldn't be too fun to spend 3 hours at airside SVO...

SVO airside is not bad, they even have free wifi and the chairs in new D terminal are OK too.

Regarding the lounge access, for the lounge even the cardholder needs to get lounge invitation card (either at check-in or at transit counter), also asking the same for the companion. They track everything in the system and I guess it would be a bit of a challenge to get two lounge invitation cards, but YMMV.

Hmm. Also AY uses those lounges, and I've never received an actual invitation card, either as flying AY C or as OW elite.

I once flew SU C HEL-SVO-CEK. A friend of mine was in the back of the plane, but I was able to talk him into Jazz (or was it Blues?). In the end the guy just got tired of us and waived us in.

It's Russia - offer $30 US, or 25 Euro and see what happens. I have always found that offering to pay helps, and if you are really that against sitting with the commoners this is a reasonable price. If I remember correctly, a cappuccino and a cake might cost you that anyway. But it is not unpleasant to sit airside, IMO. Some good views of the activity, comfy chairs, decent-ish food, etc makes it ok. And if your friend makes you sit there on your own, well I would question their "friendness".

Regarding the lounge access, at certain departure airports around the globe, especially where for the lounge access even the cardholder needs to get a lounge invitation card (either at check-in or at transit counter), I not only ask for my companion but also for any additional colleagues/ friends that may be traveling with me. Very rarely the request has been declined, 99% of the time, the Check-in agent gives me the lounge access for me and my additional companions, and this is especially when we travel economy.

The one airport at which the lounge access is very difficult to obtain for additional companions is NRT, my decline ratio is very high at NRT.

You'll most likely need an invite for you as well as your guest. They take the invites from you when you enter so not likely you'll be able to get both into different lounges. There is a pay option at the Jazz Lounge. I've seen a guy paying when I've checked in before and he did get a receipt so I'm guessing there's a legit way to do it and then the more common way of doing things in this great land.

The commoner area is really not bad at all. Wifi and coffee shops are a plenty.

I have been able on occasion to get Delta to give me two invites to bring colleagues in. You might try asking. I've been told no and I've been told yes. Can't hurt.
