Same extra baggage allowance throughout the whole alliance network
"SKYTEAM has great news to share: as of 1st September, Elite and Elite Plus passengers from any of our 14 member airlines will benefit from the same extra baggage allowance throughout the whole alliance network, regardless of their Frequent Flyer Program, airline or class of travel flown. This is especially interesting for travelers flying on multiple SkyTeam airlines. Learn more on www.skyteam.com"

extra bag allowed for no-status companions on same PNR?
I hate to hijack the thread, but it is fairly relevant.
For a companion with no status, will they get the extra baggage allowance? |
That's good news and will simplify life ... one day. The question is how the member airlines will implement this. Today they are not even in a position to print boarding passes for connecting skyteam flights despite this being a published benefit (OK cannot print DL, DL cannot print AF), so I'm wondering how they will cope with this, if your status does not show up correctly in the parnter airlines's system, which all too frequently occurs.
But it's a step in the right direction. |
Well, I guess now we know why DL cut elite baggage allowances on international flights by reducing the weight from 70lb per bag to 50lb per bag. I don't like that cut, but harmonization across the whole alliance is good.
