Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8520/4.6.1.286 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/301)

West Jet enterted into codesharing deal with AF/KLM and Virgin Blue already in deep partnership with Delta, talks of JV across the pacific alongside forming an interline relationship with CZ.
Plans to join ST in the future?
Although keep in mind, West Jet does have close ties to OW and Virgin Blue (to my understanding) has entered or is planning on entering into a deeper partnership with Virgin Atlantic.

Could be considering WS or DJ will eventually to joining into ST or OW. This is logical choice for which one of Alliance will be choose. I am thinking WS will eventually to joining into SkyTeam is more convenient for me. Just wait to see if WS or DJ will have to be in negotiate from member of board to be approval sometimes in the future. You'll will find out soon enough.

I would suppose that DJ go to ST or possibly *A (due to connections with Virgin group - Branson hates BA/AA) while WS is in deep connections with OW.

WestJet opted to forge an alliance with Delta rather than SouthWest

Don't forget that the new CEO has come from AS , I suspect that he may very well choose to take WS along the same profitable path of getting into bed with as many partners as possible without the restrictions ( and costs ) that can come with membership of a global alliance .

...Another major initiative will be signing partnerships with foreign carriers, feeding travellers into Canadian hub airports where WestJet in turn could fly visitors to smaller centres.

“My experience at Alaska Airlines taught me that it's best, if you can, to be able to pick and choose freely without the handcuffs of being tied to a single global alliance relationship, to ensure you get the best partner for the particular geography of the world that you're wanting to cover,” Mr. Saretsky said.....
