I doubt that this would ever happen . But the star alliance has british midland . Oneworld has British airways

Well, comparing BD to VS to BA is like comparing apples to motorcycles to textbooks. The three each operate as a VERY different organization and have very different operations. But I sortof see where you are coming from.

Still, if VS affiliates anywhere it will almost certainly be with *A. They already have partnerships - some deeper than others - with a number of *A carriers and a decently large chunk of VS is owned by SQ.

VS is not joining an alliance. As stated above, they have been 49% owned by SQ for a decade now, so it they went anywhere, it would be Star.

VS is strictly a long haul carrier anyway, they have no regional routes that I'm aware of... its just a way to get to/from London. BA and BD both have a lot of regional routes to offer an alliance.

Wouldn't this aid Star's presence on US-LHR routes though? Since OW pretty much dominates here, I would think that even though VS doesn't do any European short-haul, it could turn LHR into another connecting "hub" for *A flyers. From there they could take any number of flights to major cities covered by European *A carriers.
