Sixt now open at SJC!
I was going through the San Jose Airport car rental building on Monday and, just out of the blue, there was a Sixt counter there.
Searching on Google it looks like it just opened on the day I saw it. ^ It is great to have another Sixt location where I often rent.

I just had my first rental at the SJC Sixt. Excellent overall experience, with one caveat.
They greeted me upon arriving at the counter and offered me a bottle of water. I booked an XCAR and they offered me anything on the lot. The highest they have currently is a Merc GL450, I decided to just keep my car class and take an Audi A6.
The person from the desk escorted me upstairs and they had waiting, and running, the brand-new looking A6 with 1,100 miles on it. Inside were 2 more bottles of water.
In the lot appeared to be around 10-20 BMW 5 and lower series. About 10-12 various Merc SUVs (ML and GL), and around 10-15 Audi A6 and A3. During drop-off the guy there told me that had quite a few more cars coming in shortly.
The only caveat, that I consider a huge negative, is that they charge a $1499.99 deposit on the car rental. I have never seen any other normal car rental company charge such an absurd deposit. It has been 2 days since I returned the car and that deposit is still "pending" on my CC. Yes, it will drop off eventually, but annoying nonetheless.

Yeah I don't get that either. Especially if you get the LDW with $0 excess and SLI and have personal insurance as well. They only took a USD$500 for an FCAR reservation worth USD$279. Even if I damage the car and that's not covered by insurance then what is USD$500 going to cover?

Recently completed a rental here. Lots of cars to choose from and it was full of cars (though I find that SJC always has lots of cars from the other rental companies too)
Rented XCAR - Receipt showed $1499.99 deposit too. Received 5 series Xdrive (AWD). No back up cam or sensors, but overall a smooth drive.

Anyone been here recently and has any idea what I could get as an LCAR at this location in March? I am hoping for the new C Class. What LCARs would you recommend asking for?

Just returned my car to this location after two great weeks. Service was great and the staff were very friendly.
Regarding inventory. I booked an LCAR and was assigned a BMW 328i. I asked for an upgrade and got one to an XCAR BMW 528i for 5 dollars extra a day. 10k miles and pretty much loaded, including working Sirius. Happy with that!
Other cars on the lot were many volvos, audi q5 and a6, loads of BMW 328i, a couple 528i and one lone 428i. Also a row of brand new X5's. Also, plenty of CLA's. A brand new 2015 Mustang GT coupe was parked in the corner of the lot..

Got a 3 series. They didn't have anything else available. They offered me an X5 for $20/day which I declined since I would be driving in the city a bit and thought a smaller car would have been better.

Anyone been here lately? I have a XFAR booked for 2 weeks in October and really want a BMW X5. Or if you have any other recommendations for the best car in that class.
