False damage claim - SIXT

We had rented the car from Salzburg and dropped it at Vienna on August 10th. We had requested the SIXT employer to inspect the car at drop off but they did not do it.

Three days later we got an email claiming damages of 720 euros for minor scratches on the car which are not caused by us.
The pictures shared with us for car with scratches are time stamped for August 26th (16 days after our drop off). I had also requested for some documents such as rental contract subsequent to our drop off, damaged pictures from the date of drop off... from the SIXT team.
However, they are not providing any evidence, and constantly harassing us for payment and threatening for Debt collection agency.

Can anyone help! Please.

I think you might be in a bad situation unless you have pictures of the car on drop-off/had a chance to have them inspect it. Otherwise, maybe see if your credit card used to reserve has insurance. Good luck.

You may want to try going through the steps here:

If it doesn't work, you're no worse off than you are now. Elliott.org has been recommending this process for awhile now with consistently good results.

Did you take pictures of the car at the time of rental and drop off? This is an absolute Ďmustí and so very easy. What damages does your rental slip mention? Are these the same? Whilst Iím sure you are right, how do you know that you didnít cause the damage? Finally, let your credit card deal with this.
