First time Sixt Rental
 

Hello,

I'm a newbie to both sixt and abroad car rental, just have rented once from LAX and another company. This time the destination is Frankfurt at February 19th. It was cheaper to pay in advance, so i preferred it and preferred the class CPMR.

I will be travelling a lot in the next few years. So I became a member for sixt today and just writing here to get familiar with sixt customers & representatives.

I'd be glad if you could help me with anything I should check while receiving / leaving the car. And also I would like to hear about upgrade chances for a first - timer :)

Hi,

a) make sure your credit card covers the rental (primary)
b) can you drive stick (as the M in CPMR is Manual)? Otherwise add it to your remarks
c) as Sixt matches status from airlines/hotels/rentals ....you might be able to get a status match and therefore increase your chance of an upgrade
d) only tip > german rental companies are more detail oriented (to phrase it positively) when it comes to damages > make sure all are captured
e) too late for you but you should have checked if six.co.uk has better rates (sometimes they have / or one class is cheaper than .com while another is more expensive)
f) if you would have rented in a non Airport/Train Station location you would have avoided the Premium Station Surcharge (20% ?)

b] Yeah stick is the way to go imho...
c] Well, I won't be disappointed if they don't.
d] This is what I've been looking for. Do you think I should get a signed document that the car has no problems while leaving?
e] Yes you are correct, I have checked .com, .de and .com.tr and rates were different, but didn't think about uk. Well, next time.
f] I know but have a great deal of luggage & as the worst part my wife with me. They could as well charge 40% :)

Hi,

As you will travel a lot you will probably get a couple new credit cards. Club Carlson gives you Gold that Sixt Matches ( among many others).
I can understand the airport location reason. Sometimes there is an alternative ( ie the Duessrldorf Maritim which is supposed to be the same distance from the gate than the Airport location).
