Amara Hotel

We have booked an efficiency unit at the Amara Hotel next month (Jan 5-12).

What does one think of this hotel?

One question I do have - I know there is no kitchen.
However, I wonder if there might be a mini-fridge, and a microwave?

I've only been in the lobby and Thai restaurant, and they were both quite nice.

And sorry to go OT, but that Thai restaurant was quite possibly one of the best meals I've ever had.

The Amara Hotel is supposedly no. 57 out of 153(?) hotels in Singapore.
It is a 3 star hotel with the basic amneties such as mini-fridge,mini-bar,hair dryer.etc. but no microwave.

It is located in the Central Business District area of Singapore so it can be pretty busy during office hours (8am-6pm),after that it is kind of deserted.
But with most hotels that are located off Orchard Road, or near the City, you can pretty much move around with the island's excellent public transport system and I do believe it is located near an MRT station ( Tanjong Pagar I believe)
And if you are in the CBD area you can always pop-by Lau Pa Sat for some authentic Singaporean cuisine and beer.

Hope this helps.
Cheers!

I stayed in the Amara some years ago, it was a decent business hotel. The Amara adjoins a shopping centre with numerous facilities, including a DeliFrance, a Burger King and there is 7-Eleven across the road. So in addition to the fine dining options, a sandwich or snack can be readily obtained.

hotels in singapore

hi,I am new to this forum
can please suggest me some of the best hotels in Singapore?

The Amara is a business hotel -- comparable to the Meritus Mandarin or the LeMeridien. Stayed there when the entire city was booked and paid some $250 (US) -- definitely not worth that much!

Welcome to FT!

There is a lot of discussion about the best hotel in Singapore in the Luxury Hotels Forum -- a search should bring up some threads. Contenders include the Shangri-La (Valley Wing), Raffles, Four Seasons, Fullerton, and MO.

We will be staying in the timeshare part of the hotel (ie an efficiency unit). I wonder if the efficiency section of the hotel is signficantly different from the main part of the hotel.

I have learned, at least for the timeshare portion of the hotel, that a microwave can be requested.

PS-Is there a grocery store near the hotel?

There is a shopping center in the same building which has a grocery store on one of the upper levels. I also used a "business centre" on the 3rd floor in the mall for internet access, which offered much more reasonable rates than the hotel.

The 7-11 is pretty close by but they mostly have basic stuff like instant noodles, canned food, bread, dairy products etc.
I have seen a convenience store along Boat Quay.
Most of the major malls have at least a supermarket as one of their tenants.
But one thing's for sure it is pretty convenient to get whatever you need in SIN city whatever time of the day.
Coupled by an excellent transport system.

Having said that, if you ever need ANYTHING at 3am in the morning like a washing machine or an LCD,HD T.V, there's always Mustaffa which is open 24/7,located in Little India.

Have a good safe trip!

Cheers!

We will be arriving on a SIN bound flight at Changi at about 5 AM. The question are what are the transportation options (we will not rent a car) to go to the hotel (in terms of type of options, and rates). There will be 2 of us. We will have baggage/luggage - so we are not interested in rapid transit (unless the rapid transit station is literally next to the hotel). We are interested in airport to hotel (direct non-stop) transportation.

You definitely will not be renting a car in Singapore, its one of the most expensive places in the world for car ownership and public transport is super efficient.

Take a cab, even with the early morning surcharge I doubt it will exceed SGD25-30.

Quick run to get Exec pro early. $383 and never have I ever found a condom in my room. They said it was a glitch when the room wasn't clean. But shook there was a opened condom in the room...
- The day manager offered me a deluxe room and 4 PM check out LOOOL. I had to advocate for myself and then at 8 PM they offered me dinner when I had already ate and tried to apologize and told me to take down the instagram video... lmfao terrible.
