Transit hotel - Use T1 or T2?

This is my first time through SIN. I'll be arriving on UA 803 at 23:59 and leaving the next morning on SQ 192 at 8:05. I am considering the transit hotel for 7 or 8 hours and was wondering if I should book the T1 or T2 location, or are they close enough that it doesn't matter?

Also, this trip is rather close in so only budget rooms are available. Are these alright, or would I be better off heading into Singapore and taking a later flight to PEN?

Lastly, is the airport open all night? I could stay on East Coast time and wander around as a final option.

Yes on all counts.

Best to check which property have rooms. But maybe best for you to stay at the one in T2 so less hurrying around. But the rooms are booked in blocks of 6 hours anyway.

does SIN transit hotel actually ever confirm?

Has anyone had recent success in getting the SIN airport transit hotel to confirm a reservation request made on their web site or via email? I tried both and have had no response.

Yes, they reply, but patience is a virtue. You can telephone them if you require an instant confirmation.

If you need a confirmation soon, definitely call as the previous poster suggested. I just made a close-in reservation and it was quick and painless.

BTW, if I'm in the T1 hotel and leaving on an SQ flight to PEN when should I plan on checking out?

I thought it was just me. I've tried 4 times via their website to make a reservation for the 17 Nov, and have never received anything but the automated response saying be patient and wait for a response.

I guess it is time to try a phone call.

Well, you're right -- 8 days later I got an email confirmation!

Definitely call. I gave them a month, after doing the online reservation thing before calling. They didn't have a record of it. I know they must have had some record as I received the autoreply e-mail after making the reservation.

I just logged on to ask the same thing!
I received a confirmation for the second stay, but not the Nov. 24th one. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow and call them. Thanks for the help!

Definitely call them directly 2+ weeks before arrival.

I requested a room via the Web site 4 months ago. Nothing but an automated response saying be patient and they'll get back to me.

2 months ago. Same.

1 month ago. Same.

This week for 10 days from now. "We're so sorry, we're full that night"

Given the Singapore reputation of efficiency and customer service, I was quite surprised at how this came out. I've never seen a hotel reservation system that works so poorly ( some India hotel chains come close). Perhaps because they are based around "blocks" instead of nights and can't use common booking services readily available.

Good Luck.

The website is junk. Once I called and the desk agent figured out that my reservation didn't exist, it took her 2 minutes to get me booked. Just call--SOOOOO much easier.

from my mother and my experience it is not worth booking a hotel when coming from the US east coast as you will not fall asleep. If you want to relax you can use the free massage chairs or recliners in the Oasis lounge at the end of the E gates.

After travelling for almost 30 hours, the $50 USD will be well worth it for a room. Even if you don't sleep. Grab a shower, watch TV and relish the silence :D

Actually, the single rate is only about US$40 for the first 6 hours.
