Transit hotel in SIN help
Hello,
I am getting in late, like all UA flights, on transpac UA to SIN next month (arriving terminal 1) and then departing the following morning to KUL on SQ (departing from terminal 2). Is there a difference in the transit lounge hotel between the two terminals? I notice that each terminal has its own hotel. Any preferences? Thank you. |
The rooms are identical in the hotel in both terminals. However, i seem to recall that one terminal had more construction going on than the other.
I assume you are referring to the Ambassador Transit hotel and not the SKL/Raffles lounge or another lounge. You may want a moderator to move this to the Singapore forum, better chances of getting a reply there. |
If you make a reservation, the transit hotel will automatically reserve a room for you in T2, your departure terminal. That works well, because if you have checked bags that need to be transferred from UA to SQ, you can check in and show your boarding passes at the transfer counter just around the corner from the bottom of the escalator from the T2 transit hotel. You can do it the evening you arrive in SIN.

What's the cost? I transited SIN a week ago, and thought it might have been a better idea to stay at the transit hotel instead of the 'ol taxi>hotel>taxi thing. Even staying at Hotel 81, it still cost about $s100 with everything.

I was in Sing last Wed night getting in about 900pm from KL and leaving on a 720am flight the next morning, but I still went to the Hyatt. The one good thing about the Transit Hotel is the rates. The minimum is a six hour block which I believe is about S$60 or 65 and about S$14 for each additional hour. |
Moving to the Singapore forum.

Current rates are $57.75 single, $64.70 double for the first six-hour block, $13.90 for each additional hour single or double. These are Singapore dollars. Multiply by about 0.63 for USD.

Thanks!
I just received my confirmation from them (took a few days to get it) and it also read: This is in response to my itinerary which has Tiger Airways (TR) onward to HKT... Please be reminded that you must not collect luggage after flights arrivalor in between stayUnclaimed luggage will be stored at Lost & Found Nite Stop Counter inTerminal 1 This is what you do AFTER stay 1. Proceed to Arrival Hall, Level One 2. Clear Immigration and collect luggage from Lost & Found Nite Stop counter 3. Leave Arrival Gate 4. Take taxi to Budget Terminal 5. Proceed to Tiger Airways Check-In counter 6. Check-in luggage and collect your onwards boarding pass Does anyone know if any of these things should take a bit of extra time? I would like to check in for the Tiget flight around 515a or so. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks! |
Bumbing this. I could really use some advise on timing on the post above. Thanks all! :D

As for the rest, Immigration and baggage claim in Singapore usually takes under 15 minutes, although you might want to factor in a little extra as they dig it up from wherever they store unclaimed bags. Taking a taxi isn't worth it unless you have a lot of baggage, as there's a free shuttle bus between T2 and the Budget Terminal, which runs every ten minutes after 4:30 AM according to the official site. If I was you, I'd snooze happily until 5:30 AM or so, take a quick wake-up shower, and only then mosey over to the BT. |
I am doing the opposite: arriving on Tiger (from Clark) and then departing on UA about 12 hours later. Will there be any trouble getting from the Budget Terminal and through to Terminal 1 airside so that I can stay at the Transit hotel?
|
Hi MillionMileDriven and welcome. Although I have not used the new Budget Terminal in SIN, basis my reading of the official site posted above by jpatokal, it seems there should be no problem for you to transit from that terminal to Terminal 1 via Terminal 2 depending on your time of arrival(?). Please also consult the internet site of the SIN airport for details on transfer times.
Good luck. |
