I only ate there once but it was during gourmet week and there was a famous chef from France (whose name escapes me now) who managed to pull of a gastronomical lunch menu feat for $65 - it was excellent and of course the atmosphere is great. But at these prices you expect something more.

Singapore's fancy French restaurants tend to be rather disappointing, and my experience at Au Jardin Les Amis was quite similar to the OP's. So far, the only French restaurant I've found that I can give even a half-hearted thumbs-up to is Sebastien's Bistrot, which doesn't even pretend to serve haute cuisine, just rustic provincial fare -- and the standard of offerings is still a little uneven.
