Hotel Recommendation Suggestions?

Hi, I am looking to stay 4 nights in Singapore next August. I am visiting for the first time and intend to do the usual touristy stuff, but will be working the first night as I will be landing Friday night (Friday morning US time). I was looking at the following options, which look to be roughly in the same price point of ~$300-400 USD per night. Does anyone have any opinions on which are the best of the bunch, or other recommendations at the same price point?

JW Marriott South Beach
Conrad (both of them)
Andaz
Swissotel Stamford
Sofitel City Centre
Fullerton
Artyzen
Intercontinental (the main one, not the Robertson Quay one)
Shangri-la

I am a primarily US traveler and have Titanium status with Marriott, Gold with Hilton, and Platinum with IHG

I would narrow down the options to (having personally stayed in all of them):
St Regis
Intercon (Bugis)
Grand Hyatt

All 3 have a brilliant range and food quality for breakfast, sheltered connection to a train station, close proximity to malls/food options and executive lounges.

The choice would then boil down to elite benefits like complimentary hotel breakfast and lounge access.

Maybe these as well if the three above are prohibitively expensive:
W Sentosa (inaccessible; no lounge)
JW Marriott South Beach (no complimentary breakfast at restaurant; breakfast only at lounge and was underwhelming)
Westin (located in a very boring office area so it's a ghost town at night/weekends with the only nearby hawker center Lau PA Sat a famous tourist trap)

The shangrila (Orchard) is quite dated, less accessible and would only be an option if you have kids keen in the water playground.

I think the fullerton is probably as good as my three suggestions but I have never stayed there before.

Thinking of booking the Fullerton. In Singapore for two nights in April touristing, first time.

Great choice! It's a really beautiful conserved building (we dont have so many architectural beauties like it in Singapore anymore). It's in the CBD like Westin, but you are nearer to Suntec City/Millenia Walk/Raffles City Shopping Center/Marina Square which will provide you with plenty of shopping/dining options when the shops in the CBD shut at night/weekends.

Decent choice but will have to walk to get anywhere. Wouldn't be my first choice but it's still a solid one nonetheless.

It all depends on what you're looking for during your stay. Close to shopping, dining, MRT? Facilities like good-sized pool?

Living here, I am no expert on hotels, but the Fullerton is one of my favourite buildings, its the old post office and back in the 80s, when I was working on ships, I used to phone home from there. I always walk guests through the building to show them.

You're close to boat quay, which I admit is a bit of a tourist trap, but if you've come from a temperate climate, a curry by the river in the evening is a treat, notwithstanding it isn't Michelin star standard. Usually our first night out with guests. Two slightly touristy trappy pubs very near by if you want your pint in the evening and a short walk back to the hotel.

If you want exercise, (suggest dawn and dusk only), its a nice walk from there to Gardens by the Bay. For other locations, you're on both the green and red lines for getting around which is very easy.

Edit to add, the buses are excellent for getting around, google maps will give you the buses to use to get to a particular destination, and you get the benefit of seeing more of the city from the top deck of a bus than in an underground train!

The Fullerton is indeed a beautiful hotel and a decent enough location (note that there is a bus stop right outside the hotel). If you are considering the Fullerton, I would look at the Fullerton Bay Hotel, which is just on the opposite side of the road and right on the waterfront of the Marina Bay.

As it happens, I will be at the Fullerton Bay next week for Chinese New Year, though the weather looks unfriendly. I have booked an FHR reservation with a bay view. Any advice on Fullerton Bay or on experiencing CNY? My first time in Singapore.

I put some stuff here about the Fullerton, which is just across the road from the Fullerton Bay:

The rooftop bar is great for sunset drinks, though you may have to book a table, may be best to ask about this at reception when checking in. (Sunset currently about 19:20).

Sorry missed this. Coming from London, so not really fussed about shopping, and we want to be out and about experiencing the city, walking during the day, eating and drinking in the evening. Not fussed about hotel facilities (e.g. pool or gym) - quality of hotel/service more important. Not going to be spending that much time there really so not keen on paying like Raffles prices. Plus we're only there for two nights before heading to TPE...

If you will be out a lot, I would suggest a hotel with an underground or covered walkway to a nearby MRT station. Places like Swissotel Stamford come to mind. It will make getting around much more convenient and less “rainy” in the event, unless your group can manage better with taxis and rideshares.

Thanks - something like that could work well actually.

I've actually ended up booking the Fairmont.
