Luggage check in with BA at Changi?

I had flights booked returning home to LHR from Kuala Lumpur on 1 Feb 2025, which BA have cancelled because of maintenance problems. All KL flights have been cancelled, not just our one. They gave us no alternatives at first other than cancel for a refund on the return leg of our trip which starts in Changi with a land and air trip all around Malaysia.

When I called, they offered us Qatar Economy flights meaning no direct flight and loss of our Premium economy flight. We eventually reluctantly excepted a flight from Singapore and accepted that we need to get there under our own steam and expense. Obviously leaving our last hotel in a taxi for the airport with 4 suitcases is a different proposition than what we now face.

I did look at the luxury coach option, which may have been OK, but a bit concerned its a long way to be sitting for a long time, followed by a very long time sitting a few hours later - plus a risk of road delays etc. train takes too long... So have elected to fly down on Malaysian in Business Class, which on my date, is strangely cheaper than economy as well - plus we need to extra luggage allowance.

So after my long winded explanation - a simple question.

When we arrive in Changi, will we be allowed to check in our luggage for our flight home with BA, so we can wonder the airport and take it all in? I really dont want to risk having delays, so will be arriving there probably 7 hours before flying home - so I'm hoping thats possible,

Also worth asking at KUL if MH will tag your bags through for you. The worst that can happen is they say no.

Something I’d not even considered.

Is that something likely or possible for MH to arrange to forward luggage in a foreign airport to a different airline? Would solve a lot of hassle if we could.
