Transit from Air Asia to United

A few days ago, I booked a DPS-SIN flight on Air Asia QZ 506 arriving at 5:20 PM for my onward connection on UA 28 SIN-SFO at 10:20 PM.

However, Air Asia just changed it to QZ 508 which now arrives at 8:15 PM. Looks like the earlier flight is cancelled.

Will this be enough for my onward connection? I have an APEC card in case I need to go through Customs and Immigration (which I had to do when I was transferring from UA to Air Asia on my inbound).

Thanks.

Unless there are any more issues with the flight, it should be enough. However, you have ZERO protection in case of misconnect.

I wouldn't chance it. Get AirAsia to change to morning flight, or cancel/refund&buy new flight
https://www.flightstats.com/v2/fligh...ing/QZ/508/DPS

Ontime performance wise is okay (avg 20min delay max 3 hr). Even if you assume that 8:15pm+20min = 8:35pm. You land at T4, have to travel to T2 (transit security, 10-20min bus commute, then walk to gate). UA doesn't have mobile passes for SIN- you may have to visit the transit desk to get pass, or get it at gate.

If you have to exit immigration and re-enter, additional time. More time for bags too

There may be additional medical screening measures that take time

UA does have an unofficial flat tire rule, but you really don't want to rely on it

You don't have a connection, just two separate flights. Since the UA flight is a long haul, there is no way I would risk this over two hours. Get a much earlier flight. Having to buy a new ticket to SFO is no fun.

Great advice, guys. Thank you. I will buy a Scoot flight TR285 arriving at 4:50 PM.

Okkk... Hope that would work for you. There are us, some locals here, who avoid Scoot at all costs due to their past 'performance'....

Are they that bad? It is a short flight, and I have a 4 hour cushion...

While some people have had issues with Scoot. I fly them several times a year, and not had any issues (knock on wood).

Though if I had a choice between them and jetstar, I would choose the latter.
