Changi late arrival(QR), Crowne Plaza, early departure (MI) best strategy

We arrive in SIN on QR 21:30 (J), stay in the Crowne Plaza airport and depart for REP on Silkair (MI,, class Y) next moring at 8:40

What is the best strategy to maximize sleep and - more importantly - breakfast time? How long before departure do we need to be at the MI counter (with luggage)? When do we need to leave the hotel?
Or is there a late evening checkin with MI?

Regards
Stepfel

Just to be clear, it looks to me that you would be able to sleep say six hours during this transit. Hopefully this will be enough.

To make the transit as leisurely as possible, some thoughts:

1. Check in your Silk Air flight on line before leaving your originating city (presumably wherever you are starting your QR flight). Silk Air allows check in up to 48 hours early.
2a. When checking in for your QR flight, see if you can have your luggage interlined (transferred directly) from QR to MI while you are at SIN. If this works, you will only see your luggage when you arrive at REP. BTW this is a long shot but worth asking for. Having the MI boarding passes in your hand might help. If this works, skip 2b.
2b. If you were not successful getting your luggage interlined, do this. On arriving at SIN (you will be in Terminal 3), go to the nearest Transfer Desk and approach any counter for Singapore Airlines (Silk Air is a SIA subsidiary). You are approaching them to have your luggage collected from QR and sent to MI; they will need to see your QR luggage claim checks to do this. Also let them have your boarding pass for the MI flight. It is possible the personnel will tell you to go to the Transfer Desk in Terminal 2 in which case you would make the same requests; T2 is where MI flights depart. Either way you are free of your baggage.
3. Go to Passport Control and enter Singapore. Proceed to the Crowne Plaza. It is connected to Terminal 3.
4. Next morning, return to the airport. MI check in is open three hours before flight time. Because you would have your boarding passes and no check in baggage, I suggest you get to the gate say at least 40 minutes before flight time. Realistically this means getting to passport control at 7:20-7:30am. This is to allow say 20 minutes to get from passport control to the gate; note also that security is at the gate so that will take some time as well.

Hope this makes sense. Link below is for the MI specific information.

So, checking through luggage did not work. They only check through on Oneworld. But going to the T3 transfer counter in Changi did work flawlessly. They rerouted our luggage to REP just fine, the only thing that got lost was the plastic bag that QR gave us to wrap our backpacks.

Great! One thing: was there a MI counter at the T3 transfer desk, or did SQ take care of you?

Anyway thanks for coming back to share what actually happened - hard data points are always helpful.

Not totally sure, to be honest. I think it was SQ.
