Questions re: connecting in SIN
I arrive at SIN on UA early morning on the 10th and have 11 hours before my next flight on Air Asia. I wil have to claim bags and then check in again, which could bring up some issues.
If I decide to get 6 hours of sleep in the transit hotel, can I check in around 2am and stay until 8am? Would my bag presumably be available for me to claim several hours after my arrival? Is it typically best to make a reservation at the hotel, or is it typically OK to walk up to the counter? Or am I making this too difficult? Should I just get off the plane, get my luggage, go through Customs, and check into a hotel near the airport? Also, it appears that Air Asia (AK) allows early checkin in Terminal 1 at 5:30am. Does that seem correct? Thanks...first time connecting in Singapore. |

Claiming bags and then heading to a hotel is doable but after a long TPAC flight I would just check in at the airport transit hotel and grab my zzzz's. Good idea to make reservations for transit hotel as I have seen many walk-up finding "no room at the Inn" AirAsia would only let you check in bags 2 hours before your flight IIRC. |
Thanks for the info, including the insight re: Air Asia. There does not appear to be an easy way for someone in the U.S. to reach them to ask questions, and I could not find the answer on their site.
I booked the transit hotel two years ago, but I can't remember how I did it. I went to http://www.changiairport.com/en/airp...it-hotels.html. They have a link to http://www.harilelahospitality.com/t...ateshtml/c16ei, which is broken. I can book it on third party sites, but I have to indicate that I would check in on the 9th in order to check out on the 10th. I don't want to get the wrong 6-hour slot and miss out. |

I assume that you already paid for AirAsia checked luggage fee? Because if you have not, you might face very costly surprise at check in.

I sure did. Only the 2nd time in my life I have paid for checked luggage. Frustrating.
I always wear my multi-pocket travel vest and cargo pants/shorts. Some check in for LCC has been known to enforce the 7kg cabin baggage rule. |

Welcome to PAYG flying!
