Meanwhile, talk about the 'Jewel' at Changi Airport

I was reading somewhere that London Heathrow plans to create a central hub called the "Central Terminal Area" linking all 2 of its terminals together and that Heathrow wants to make itself into the world's best airport...

That is hard to believe especially when Singapore Changi airport will open their 'Jewel' - a central hub linking terminals 1, 2 and 3 in 2018 when Heathrow hasn't even confirm if it can build its 3rd runway yet.

See this video below and tell us what you think of "The Jewel"..

Jewel is just interconnecting terminals with new retail facilities. It is 3 years away from completion at this moment - it was planned to finish in 2019. Considering the size of project, I doubt that it will be ready by that time.

Going by Singapore's meticulous planning, attention to detail and past record, am sure they'd finish in time and finish in style.

As we head into 2019, reviving this thread looking for an update when Jewel is expected to open. I hope by May.

So it's almost open ...

Those of you who want to get a sneak preview can sign up to see it 11 - 16 April. Though to be fair, slots are only available now 15 - 16 April.

I don't think it will start serving until the official Jewel opening 17 April. Videos/picture suggest it is currently staffed, but I suspect it's just training.

So, my question - the videos and web site look pretty nice. Is "Jewel" worth a visit to SIN?

I've not been but my view, don't make a special visit to Singapore just to see it... Just arrive at the airport an hour earlier before your flight and you will be able to spend time wandering around,
