16hr layover in Singapore -- can this be done?

I arrive into SIN at 3am from NRT in Suites class. Leave to BOM at 1905 in F class. I am assuming that SQ will hold my bags till final destination.

Planning on heading to the transit hotel to take a shower and catch a few zzz for a few hours.

Head to the city in the morning to grab the cheapest Michelin star meal. Walk around Chinatown and then go over to Arab Street to get a taste of something different. I have been many times to Singapore and just got back from vacation over there. So, just looking to get some sun, sweat a bit and try to get to 10,000 steps before the next flight.

What time do the experts think I should be back at the airport to get a shower and enjoy a little bit of TPR and wind down for the next flight?

Any other suggestions?

Like SQ319 said, the queue for that $2 chicken rice is insanely long now.

For TPR ... I'd say arriving at the airport 1.5 hrs before the flight is plenty time to have a shower and some food.

I would have said two hours to allow for problems.

SQ should keep the bags (checked through) at SIN if everything is on a single ticket/PNR, assuming that all segments are SQ operated. If not, the airport has some baggage storage facility, but I don't know the details.

I'd agree with the 2 hour mark. On my last visit, outbound passport control and security queues were lengthy (but efficient), so I appreciated the extra time. If you have PP and an extra 15-20 minutes, I would recommend a visit to the Airport Wellness Oasis to use the fish spa.

OP is flying first, though, so he would / could go through the private immigration counter via the first class concourse.

The queue may be shorter, but don't be surprised if the person before you tabao (Singlish for takeaway) 20 packets.

Just to give you an idea of the queue times, the queue at Tai Hwa (the other 1 Michelin Star hawker stall, probably the second cheapest from $5/bowl) is 90 minutes yesterday. Started queuing at 10am, reached the front of the queue at 11.30am. They normally open at 9am.

I suppose you can go before they open to queue, but for a 16-hour stopover, I don't think that's a productive use of the short time you have in SIN.
