A possible return of the haze in the coming days according to National Environment Agency - reported by the Straits Times
Just in time for Singapore's National Day celebrations |
Hi,
Looks like I picked a good time to visit Singapore ( spend 21st to 27th July) and had several beautiful days with no haze ( and no rain either). It was hot and humid but dealt with it with plenty of water (walking in the gardens and marina helped) and then back to the hotel lounge for a cool drink with pool time. ( I did take a spare tshirt to change into in the morning). Does the haze happen at this time every year or is it dependent on the wind directions? Regards TBS |

Over last seven years there were two cases - in 2013 and 2015 when haze was so bad that 3M air masks run out. Especially bad situation was in 2015 when schools have to be canceled. Since that nothing on that levels. Land cleaning via slush and burn was less in Indonesia and Singapore introduced serious fines for companies who operate in Indonesia and are found that have participated in burning. So current haze compared to last levels is not that bad. |
More haze ....Singapore is not the only place to suffer
Haze in region gets worse as hot spots rise |
PSI in the unhealthy range, today's the worst it's been.
Let's hope it rains before the weekend. Don't want it to spoil the GP. |

Yeah. I wonder what contingency plans the Singapore government has for this.

Do they seed the clouds over there as a last resort like they did for the Beijing Olympics? We are headed out of LAX tonight to catch the GP this weekend.
Finally, the readings, which you can find National Environment Agency micro site, shows that the readings are gradually returning back to normal territory. Hope you have a good time in Singapore and the haze stays away! |
The haze has gone for now....
PM2.5 is in the normal range, the PSI will a take few more hours to come down as that's based on a 24hr average. Wind forecast for the weekend look favorable. Not long until the GP festivities begin :D |
