I'd ask if you can upgrade to club for a reasonable fee. Not just because breakfast is included but because of happy hour in the evening. Drinking in Singapore is pretty expensive, so the art is to have a drink in the lounge in the evening and then out! Cocktails, spirits, wines, beer etc. The lounge is a real haven and is child-free in the evenings. There's also snacks during the day, ie afternoon tea with cakes and sandwiches and hot buffet during happy several hours. There's a decent buffet for breakfast but club access also allows access to breakfast in the main restaurant which is noisier but more extensive.

It is an absolute no brainer for a couple and still worth considering for a single. Today ... I made a booking for our second 2015 extended visit in June.

Enjoy your stay.

I will just say that on my first time visit last year I didn't spend any time in Orchard. And didn't consider staying there.

I did stay at the Parkroyal on Pickering in Chinatown. Fantastic location for me (easy walk to the river and Marina Bay, MRT around the corner). But overpriced and a bit chaotic.

On my return in October I chose the Intercontinental because I had IHG points plus a free night from my Chase IHG credit card to use. And the location seems reasonable to me for walking around or taking the MRT.

Are two days enough to see Singapore? If not, I could go up to three, and do a day less in Bali.

I would say that two days aren't enough.

I would have suggested the Swissotel and the Fairmont (plus Raffles across the street), which are both on top of the same shopping center for their locations, but the OP asked about specific chains. Similarly, probably for more money, the Fullerton and Fullerton Bay are great locations for tourists.

Two days may be enough to see Singapore, but two days aren't enough to enjoy Singapore.

:)

How many days do you have in Bali then??? Since you are going to Singapore and Bali, then it depends also on what you value more, a resort destination or a city destination...

If you're not married to the chains you mention, then the Swissotel Stanford is a good place to stay. It has an MRT station in the same complex (handy for rain dodging), and if you ask you should get a high floor (the view from floor 50+ is fantastic, although I think they locked the balcony doors now and you have to request them to be unlocked).

Im in Bali for 5 days. I'm actually staying at Ubud and want to use that as a home base for seeing the island. I am not big on the resort / beach scene so I have not made plans to visit that part of Bali.

I'd say I value non-resort more. I didn't come all the way from the otber side of the world to sit in my hotel or sit on a beach :)

Look. Let me say straight off I'm biaised!

We're currently spending up to 60 - 70 nights'ish per year in Singapore over two to three visits annually . Purely leisure. What more can I say?

:)

Spend at least three days in Singapore! You won't regret it! There's quite a fair bit to do and two days will probably not cut it close.

In that case, just spend 3 nights in Bali, and the rest in Singapore. Since you are not into the beach scene, 3 nights is just nice for the cultural and sights around Ubud.

That's way too much. :) How about using Sing as a base but checking out other places not that far away? Heck, with so much free time I'm surprised you haven't ventured as far as Bora Bora to see a big more of what's out there. :)

Okay so I'll stay at the IC SIN for 4 days, and spend the rest 4ish days in Ubud and surroundings. Thank you all for your help! ^
