What is open . closed Easter and Easter Monday ?

Hi

I am figuring out a trip to BKK and Singapore ,

I might be in SIN Easter weekend and am wondering if its a time shops take off work or ???

I got stuck in Italy one time on Easter Monday with everything closed , and I thought I better ask :)

Thanks for your help

It is celebrated on Fri, Mar 29 as a "public holiday" in Singapore this year. Celebrated as "good friday".

However, almost all shops and other tourist places will be open. Very unlike Europe for sure. No worries unless you have official business.

Thanks, I am mostly interested in small shops selling junk, not department stores etc

What percent of the people in Singapore are Christians ?

Or does everyone just like another public holiday :)

How do you compare Italy "some years ago" on Easter Monday with Singapore?

Especially the "small shops selling junk" are going to be open ... Chinatown ... Little India ... all good.

Only places closed will be govt offices, banks, corp offices, schools and post offices.

That's just the way it is in Singapore!

These shops in all likelihood would be open.
If food and/or shopping is your thing, there should be no problem at all ^

We have very few public holidays actually, and 2 days per race/religion is assigned annually. Basically we get 2 days off for Chinese New Year while the rest of the Chinese world gets a minimum of one week; all in the name of fairness!

No idea about % of Christians in Singapore but there are quite a number. Most shops are not closed though; the only crippling holiday for tourists who come here to shop is Chinese New Year.
