Award waitlist question
I am waitlisted for 3-4 J saver award seats from DPS to SIN at the end of the month. I have no status with SQ and the points are coming from my KF account. I realise that under normal conditions 4 J saver awards is a long shot, but I've been able to book similar tickets recently due to the downturn.
Right now, seatcounter is showing almost all zeroes across the economy booking classes and 4s for the business class seats (in Z, J, C, and D). Up to four standard business class seats are available on one flight and waitlist only for another flight, so I assume that the load is light so far on the first flight. If the load in J remains light on the day of or before the flight, and assuming no one else is waitlisted and they don't need to Op Up anyone from economy, will SQ defnitely open the seats up for the saver award redemption? or would they rather fly out with empty seats than to open up the inventory for awards? Thanks. |
SQ practises auto-cancellation of bookings not confirmed by a certain date (usually one week before the flight itself). Since your flight is about two weeks away, you could wait for the booked seats to be released by next weekend (if any).
I would also recommend that you monitor the number of J seats available on the first flight over the next few days. 3-4 redeemded seats can be tough (even in this economic climate). And to answer your question, SQ should open up the seats to redemption rather than fly out empty, as I'm sure they earn some money from the fuel surcharges. |
