I believe in the case of the A380 upgage they honored the awards. I'm not sure from 744 to 777, I hope they honor my F awards for sept 2009

(I think I posted this earlier in the thread, but here goes)
747 to A380, there is no problem at all because both aircraft have 12 seats in F/Suites.
747 to 77W, there could potentially be a problem because the 747 has 12 seats whereas the 77W has 8 seats.
However, given that there are - at best - only a handful of flights where F is fully booked, and together with the tendency for people travelling F to frequently change their plans, I wouldn't worry about getting bumped off the flight.
The only thing I might worry about is what to do if I have to change the dates - there will no longer be any other dates that SQ11 will be available in F or J, once the switchover to 77W becomes official - this means if you want to change dates, you will also have to change your routing due to lack of availability.

I can confirm that SQ has honored First Class award tickets booked on a 744 that downguaged to 77W. I flew on such a ticket on SQ 1/2 in February, and I have another booked for September.
When does the change become effective?

It appears that SQ25/26 from JFK-SIN vv will be downgauged soon as well. No F or J award availability 330 days out.
Unless SQ changes their policy, this means no F or J awards from N. America to Asia or Europe.
Not good.

let s close this thread
I took last week 3 times first class on SQ and out of curiosity chatted with the pursers about this thread. All of them confirmed that the Tokyo SIN flight will stay 747.
so it s high time the we close this strange thread and I guess that once a steward wanted to be nice to one of the passengers and just nodded to this story.

Unlikely. There won't be enough 77Ws to do the daily rotations, at least 6 aircraft will be needed. The 2.5 77Ws from CDG have been allocated to SYD (SQ231/232) & MEL (SQ217/218). SQ are already cutting it close with the deliveries of SKG (just ferried to TLS on Sat)/SKH (arrived in SIN on Thurs).

Nevertheless, I agree with Nick C. SQ simply doesn't have enough 77Ws to go around now. It is also unlikely that SQ will announce downgauge that far in advance. As I stated in post #12, I think this is a breaking news for late 2009.

The kicker in this equation is the mysterious conversion of the 11 773s to better F/J cabins. Without those aircraft to take over the DEL, BOM, and some China or Oz work, there won't ever be enough 77Ws to replace the 744s on SQ11/12 and 25/26.
And what do we hear about these conversions, announced so long ago? Nada.

macabus said announce on June 1, not downgauge on June 1. SQ can announce on June 1 that they will downgauge on November 1.

When SQ announced the launch date for the 388 flights to CDG in JAN this year, they expected the deliveries of SKG/SKH to be in mid MAY but we are already a day away from 01JUN and only 1 of the 2 required 388s have been delivered. This is a big gamble which they didn't expect. SKG was just ferried to TLS yesterday.
The 388/77W/744 fleet is stretched rather thinly at the moment. SKA went tech on 25MAY after arriving in LHR as SQ318 and couldn't return back to SIN as scheduled on SQ321, SQ638/637 on 26MAY had to be subbed by a 773 (no spare 744). SQ has 10 744s with 9 active at the moment, SPA was withdrawn in early MAY but it was put back into service last weekend after SPG was grounded in SYD (Contact with GSE) - still awaiting parts from Boeing.
The anticipated refit of the 773s which was to have started in FEB seems to taking longer than expected so until the 73As start re-entering service, I doubt SQ will make an announcement regarding of the replacement of the 744s on SQ26/25 & SQ12/11.

Perhaps I wasn't very clear with my comment.

By the way, I based my prediction on the fact that as of June 1, SQ is not offering any more last-minute F or J awards on SQ11/12.
This combined with the total discontinuation of F/J awards on SQ25/26 suggests that an announcement will be made on June 1 that the 747s will be switched.

SQ 11/12 F on 744 still available
I was able to redeem 140k Delta Miles for F on SQ 11 and 12 LAX/NRT/SIN return with a two day layover in NRT outbound for March 7 2010 returning March 15th. There were even several other dates available as options. So as for now it appears there are seat available and are still on the 74s. Hope things don't change -- I love em megatops.
on a side note -- the taxes and other misc charges dropped from over 500$ which I paid for in April to around 380$ ai
