Really? Not even to the airside SEN lounge?

That's nonsense. Hidden city ticket usage occurs every day. Neither security or border police will care one bit.

I agree. It's ludicrous at best to think border control or airport security (whom by the way has nothing to do with arriving pax) would be all over one for doing a hidden city booking. So long as you're eligible to enter the Schengen zone they wouldn't care a bit. Maybe an extra question or two IF they even notice it, but that's about it.

Any news on when SQ will finally retire their 744s? I love the aircraft and will be sad to see them go, but I thought they'd be gone already... the purser on SQ 25 told me earlier this year they'd be gone by October, replaced by the 77W. But I see they are still flying the route...

The purser on SQ11 told me the 744 would be replaced by a 77W on that route within a few months.

This was two years ago!

Regarding the high demand on that route (esp. FRA-JFK and back, when we went in October, the plane was booked out to the last seat, don't know the situation on FRA-SIN) I don't think it's really an option for SQ to replace the 744 by triple seven aircraft anytime soon (unless they increase their fares for that route, currently being one of the most affordable and best carriers on that route). I suspect they'd have to put a 388 on the route to avoid trouble.

I have a booking on SQ25 on Christmas eve. SQ is operating the 747-400 on the flight and has sold out this flight on earlier days in the week. With such high demand on this route, I cannot see another a/c operating on this route smaller than a 747.

I respectfully disagree.

LX from LAX or SFO to ZRH in F is just as good as SQ from JFK. Plus, you get a nice F lounge and a limo to your connecting flight in C - which does not happen on SQ in FRA.

ONLY if you have a connecting flight departing from a bus gate.

For sure the best value to Europe from the US if you're travelling out of JFK (don't know about other gateways in the US). SQ's prices on 25/26 are consistently the cheapest in F/J and is also the best service in the sky bar none.

Hey guys, first post here.

I'll be doing JFK to SIN on 25 next Sunday night in J. My one colleague is ticketed in the upper deck and right now im suck in the front down below. What do you guys think my best bet is to get my seat moved upstairs? I'd certainly rather be in the same cabin as my friend on such a long haul. I'm thinking just call up SQ and/or my firms travel office and see if anything opens up, maybe trying again on Saturday and when I check in.

Any tips would be nice though.

I'd first try that and if everything fails, talk to the FA - they should be helpful in finding someone you could swap seats with. Has happened to me, too, when the couple in row 12 obviously got a bit uncomfortable with the idea of having an infant directly in front of them in row 11. They simply asked us whether we were ok with swapping seats with them, and we did (not being disturbed by the infant during the whole flight).

Thanks for the tip, probably a good idea.

One other question I have for the group...any recommendations on louges at JFK, FRA, SIN, and MNL as a a J flyer only?

edit:

Actually it looks like my colleague is *G, so maybe that opens up some doors.

In JFK, you'll be given an invitation to the Oasis lounge upon check in (from the check in counter walk towards departure (which is one floor lower), stay on the check in floor and turn left, the lounge is located at the left corner of the "balcony" above the departure shops), I don't know whether there are any other lounges to be used. But I was really satisifed with the Oasis lounge, the food was good, nice choice between three main dishes from the buffet and drinks choice is average (the Starbucks coffee machine was out of service on my visit).

In FRA, expect to be re-screened before getting into the B departure hall again (there is no fast track screening, there may only be a single queue for all classes), however, I cannot help you with lounge selection (if you are going go back to JFK on SQ26, the way to the lounge will be signposted at the gate) as I don't have any experience with FRA lounges.
