How lenient is SQ if you miss the connecting flight?
I may be passing through Singapore later this year. There is some time between flights to leave the airport and there are later connecting flights. How serious is missing the ticketed flight?
I don't intend to miss my flight but if it is easy to fly standby on a later flight, then I can cut it closer than if it they strictly enforce that I fly on the ticketed flight.

Are both your flights ticketed together and is the connecting time above the legal minimum? If yes, SQ will come through, if not, you're probably out of luck...
As strictly anecdotal evidence, I've missed my flight a few times and changed my res within 24 hours umpteen times, and have never been charged a change fee. Your mileage may vary.

re previous post: I believe that even if connection is below legal time, but you purchased ticket from airline directly (vs. mistake is made by travel agent), then airline still liable to get you to your final destination.

I remember having a very tight SQ-SQ connection last year going CGK-YVR and the ground staff did a phenomenal job in getting me to my next flight after arriving from the previous. They had agent escort me from gate of arrving flight to gate of departing flight.

Do all the replies take acc ount of the OP's point that he plans to leave the airport and come back for the connecting flight ? In other words, if he misses the flight, it'll be entirely due to him having gone to town rather than a previous flight being late!
