Pay to Upgrade to Biz from Exec Econ
 

Am travelling to SIN from LAX in a couple of weeks and am in Raffles but travelling companion is in Exec Economy.

Has anyone had luck paying for an upgrade at less than the full fare difference if seats happen to be available at the airport?

I was next to someone once who did that while checking in for that sector. He ended-up paying something like $3,000.

That does not sound like any savings for a one way upgrade.

Yes, it is very expensive to just change from Exec Economy to Raffles Class. The SQ ticketing will charge you the difference in the fares of LAX-SIN in Y and C. It's huge ...

Can't hurt to ask - as I have read they on this thread they sometimes do this from other airports (Auckland?) - I don't rate your chances very high though.

Done an upgrade for a NZD 1000 from CHC-SIN in 2002. It was originally 1290 but the supervisor was very kind as i said 1290 was a tad expensive and she let me have it for 1000 after some calls as the flight was quite full in economy. BTW I was holding a SGD 1500 full fare economy ticket
