SQ to YYZ. Any chance??
Does anybody think that SQ will add YYZ to its route map anytime in the future? Is there someone that is aquainted with SQ personel and have asked them about a potential YYZ market? Is it more that SQ doesn't see Toronto as a profitable destination or is it more that they have difficulties getting government approval  ? If SQ can fly SIN-EWR Nonstop then SIN-YYZ Nonstop should not be a problem. Or maybe SQ can get fifth freedom of rights to fly SIN-LHR-YYZ (Don't know how difficult it is to get that approved by the UK & Canadian gov.). All SQ has to do is extend flights 322/317 beyond LHR with the possibility of only needing one extra aircraft to do so for a daily service. Personally, I feel that its more of a gov. approval issue because if YYZ can be profitable to carriers like CX & KE, then it should apply to SQ as well. Afterall, Singapore & Canada are both former members of the British Commonwealth and there are many ties between the two nations politically & economically. No more flying through the US if SQ does indeed start a YYZ service which will be great news for many pax ^ :D

It would be awesome if this happened. I can get to Singapore on SQ. I take the routing of YYZ-HKG-SIN on Cathay Pacific currently. I'd prefer a stop in HKG, since I stop over for 4 weeks, then continue to SIN for 3 weeks in the summer. Its unlikely to happen however. There is virtually no Singapore community here. And people who connect to other Asian destinations already have CX.

AC has wanted to fly to Singapore and did so in the past but there were government disagreements on landing rights etc. AC's current plan I think will be to extend their YYZ/HKG flts to Singapore. So SQ may get those rights as well and since both are *A they could code share certain flts using each other's metal on alternate days.
AC is short of Long haul aircraft these days so any announcements won't be immediate IMO.

SQ ever coming back to YYZ ?

Even if the rights were available, I think nonstop service would have to wait until SQ gets the B7E7-8. Anything else with the range is too large for the market.

I would assume AC would add BKK before SIN...??
