Newly minted SQ Gold questions

Though I have been Gold on a *A carrier before, I just made that level on SQ.

Since my status is good until March 31, 2006 am I correct in thinking that there's no real advantage to accumulating SQ miles until April 1, 2005? Even though I have some J class tickets on SQ, PPS seems too lofty a goal to pursue right now.

The flight that put me over the top was a J class BKK-HKT on TG and thank goodness I only needed 115 miles! SQ only gives actual flight mileage, no COS bonus, no tier bonus. Which *A programs will give more than actual flight mileage when flying other *A lines?

Finally, since my receipt of mail is quite infrequent, can I obtain a Gold card at Changi when passing through or is there some other acceptable form of identification recognized by other *A carriers?

Yes, any additional miles before April 1, 2005 will be "wasted" as far as KrisFlyer Gold status is concerned (going for PPS is another matter). Only miles accumulated between April 1, 2005 and March 31, 2006 will count for KrisFlyer Gold status in 2006-07.

Easily the single most useful source on this is Blonde Bomber's Star Alliance Gold comparison chart. Many other *A programs have minimum miles and/or CoS bonuses for other *A flights.

No idea on this, I'm afraid. Maybe you could phone KrisFlyer and ask if they could arrange this? A fax from them might help at check-in and at *Gold lounges.
