SQ21 diverted to LHR

From another forum....seems like SQ21 EWR-SIN got diverted to LHR because of a cracked cockpit windshield. Any FTer on it?

Aircraft was supposedly 9V-SGD....

I've been fortunate to have never experienced this.

Which routes and where were you diverted to each time? Just curious.

I'm totally confused. How would a flight from EWR-SIN get diverted to London? Seems like the wrong direction for the trip.

A lot of the EWR-SIN flights after the inaugural have done the North Atlantic crossing over the UK, CPH, Poland and central asia - mainly due to favorable winds.

Interesting. How do the distance and times compare for a transatlantic crossing versus a transpacific crossing EWR-SIN?

Times similar (due to tail wind). Not sure on the extra distance but wont be too much more - extra from going around partly offset by not going up over the pole.
