Sapcebed differences 345 VS 744

Sapcebed differences 345 VS 744

I've searched all over but can't seem to find any thread comparing the spacebeds on the 345 vs the 744. Are there any differences, and if so what are they? Which do you prefer? I'm traveling on the 345 SIN-LAXand I could swear I've read something about these being smaller than the ones on the 744's.

On A345 slightly narrower (maybe 1") but more pitch. IIRC the pockets on seat back in front are slightly different too.

SQ offers a pitiful 52" of pitch on the 744s. Go with the 345, which offers 64".

It's 58" on the 744.

Agree with Kiwi Flyer though, it's a wee bit narrower on the 345 than the 744 (measured using precision scientific equipment - my fingers)

When did SQ change the pitch on the 744s?

The change from 52 to 58 happened with the spacebeds.

Question

I'm looking at the SeatGuru maps for the 747 and the 345. Does the 747 really have 58" seat pitch in Raffles Class compared to 78" inches on the 345, or is that just a typo? That's 20" inches difference. I've flown Raffles on the 345, and the pitch sure didn't seem THAT big!

The seat pitch for Raffles Class on the A345 on seatguru.com has been cut and pasted from the seat pitch for First Class on the 744 and is incorrect. Give them some time to clean it up.

I think its a 64" seat pitch on the A345.

I've flown on both the 744 and the A345 and honestly I can't tell much of a difference.

Width: It really feels the same to me - how you guys could spot the A345 seats being 1" narrower is amazing!! Next time I shall bring measuring tape.

Pitch: The A345 is supposed to have 6" more seat pitch. True, I could feel slightly more leg space on the A345. But again it doesn't make much difference because the bed still reclines to an 8 degree angle.

It's 58 for the 744 and 64 for the 345.

Rows 11,17 and 22 (744) and rows 11, 16 (345) being the notable exceptions, which are far greater.

The 78 is a typo - that's F skysuite pitch on the 744.

I used the same instruments as shortfinals to measure

I connected to a 744 after a 345 flight and that's the only time I felt the difference in width.

Is it easy to get out of the window seat if the passenger in front's SpaceBed is fully reclined?

We're booked on SQ 19 LAX-SIN in a few weeks and wondering if we should book the side seats or the two middles for convenience... we like to get up and walk around a lot during the flight, esp. an 18-hour flight?

The Spacebed doesn't 'recline' as such, it slides down and forward under the seat in front. The problem getting out of a non-bulkhead Spacebed window seat is climbing over the person in the aisle seat, but if that's your travelling companion then you'll be fine.

If you put it that way, I would suggest that you take the middle aisle seats (D&G). No matter how much easier it is on the A345 to step over your reclined neighbour than on the B744/B772ER, you still need some leaping skills.

I am smiling at the thought of some poor sod on the aisle seat finding me (5'11" and not slim!) trying to access the aisle and climbing over his seat, one leg over, the other leg still on the other side. Is it just me, or will his view be not exactly flattering if he was fully reclined, at the said point of aisle access??
