Turnaround time on manual refund award booking?
 

I recently booked a flight and then changed it, now I want to cancel it and rebook something else. I called and they said i have to fill out the "Manual Assistance form" and that I should receive the miles refund in 4-8 weeks. I am hoping it wont take this long because I need to fly in January. Does anyone know what I can do? I have the space reserved for the flight that I want but it will only be held until December 3.

Pay the charge to get refunded. It is much shorter, could be immediate.

There is nothing you can do to expedite it-I've tried before (even when I've paid the charge) and all they will say is that "it has to go through the process"

I can also confirm. Earlier this year I had to cancel an SQ trip booked w/KF miles due to a family illness. The miles were refunded in about a month, maybe 5 weeks. I had enough miles in my account to re-book without needing the refund, so I was OK. But yes, pain in the butt that it's not immediate.

I just cancelled one of my award flights over the phone call last Thursday 17 Nov 2022 and the miles are back into my account today.
I paid the redeposit fee of USD75 over the phone call as well.

Cancelling the redemption ticket online - assuming payment is successfull leads to almost instant redeposit of miles to your account.
If you call in and cancel, assuming the officer processes the refund for you, the redeposit of miles is also almost instant to your account.
Now if you go through the web form, https://www.singaporeair.com/request.form no one knows how long the officer will take to tend to your request. it could be 1 day, or it could be weeks (not sure how long their email backlog is). But the moment the office process the refund for you manually, it should also be instantly back to your account
It is the refund of taxes (cash) that will depend on your bank processing time (could be 2-8 weeks).
