Open Ticket-What Does It Mean?

SQ replaced my cancelled SIN/FRA/JFK Suites award ticket with an "open ticket" valid until the end of March, 2021. How do I use this? Do I have to find new award space (unlikely) before I can use this ticket? I had asked for a mileage refund but they issued this instead.

Same problem I have, flights cancelled four times then ticket changed to "open" ticket and when I enquired as to what this meant I was told that it had to be used on the original routing before 30/3/2021 which in my case is AKL-SIN-LHR, as I am UK based this is useless to me as it's highly unlikely that I will be able to return to AKL before then given the travel restrictions that will be in force in NZ. I will try and do something through EU261 when I finally get back to the UK otherwise the whole value will be lost. I too was refused a refund or even vouchers that could be used for another destination.

Yes you do. You need to find flights with space then call SQ to book those flight(s).

My SIN-NRT F returns were cancelled and I couldn't get SQ to open up additional saver space on future date(s) which I could travel so I got them to do a redeposit and booked J instead.

Unfortunately, this seems like an intentional effort by SQ to encourage forfeiture of booked award miles. Not customer-friendly at all.
